Jacqueline looked at her brother and took a deep breath; the question he’d just posed ringing her in her ears. He wanted to be her brother.

“Can I bring you home, Jacqueline? Please? My mother, our mother,” he corrected, “has been heartbroken to the point to what humans would call severe depression. I would very much like to bring you to her. When I left the palace, she was sobbing her heart out in my father’s arms.”

“Yes. She was crying too when Father told us you were found. The family is desperate for the return of our princess.

“I was supposed to have dinner with Rafferty?”

“I can let him know where you are.”

She was really nervous and she looked to where his large hands engulfed hers, squeezing them reassuringly. “If I don’t like it, I want to come back.”

“I promise.” Excitement coated his features.

mates?”

He pulled back and looked down at her in with his eyes wide, “you are only twenty–five!”

“Sure.” Then her apartment was gone and they were

standing in the middle of a large space and as she looked

around she giggled and looked up into his face. “This is your

shoe closet!”

She looked around with a smirk, “almost. You didn’t account

for the bathroom in my place.”

“Come on,” he took her by the hand and was pulling her through an opulent bedroom and she was dragging her feet

to look around.

“This is your bedroom? Now this is bigger than my

apartment.”

“I have my own rooms. This is just the one I sleep in.” he

tugged her into a hallway, and she was agog at the gold and intricate carvings and niches in the walls.

However, she was also very aware that it was icy. She

stretched her hand out to trail it against a wall and was

amazed that it was indeed cold to the touch.

“I want to get you to Mother’s rooms before you change your mind and teleport back.” He was honest as he caught her movement over his shoulder to see her touching the wall. “What are you doing?”

“It’s cold!”

“It’s an ice palace.”

“An ice palace with gold and wood grained walls and doors?” she questioned incredulously as they passed a set of double

doors.

They were passing people in uniforms who were bowing deeply but then gasping as they realized that Jack was dragging a woman who looked very much like the royal family.

“Jack, you’re hurting my wrist,” she complained as he squeezed her tighter past the staff.

“Sorry,” he loosened his grip and then came to a screeching halt outside a huge set of doors guarded by bare chested men as big as he was. He turned and lifted her hand to examine her wrist. “I apologize. I am excited but I also didn’t want to stop and chat with the staff. I feel Mother should be the first one in the palace to greet you before they do.”

“You could have teleported to her directly instead of your

shoe closest?”

“I could have but sometimes my parents console or celebrate with each other physically. I don’t think your first view of your mother should be with her legs up in the air or on all fours.”

“Ew!” she slapped at him.

“I was barely four the first time I walked in on them. Confused my mind to consider my mother as a nubile being.”

“Nubile?”
