Flight Part I

Jacqueline twisted her fingers nervously as Wilder fastened a seat belt over her lap and Rafferty stowed a bag for her.

“This is cool,” Wraith Fairchild and his mother were taking their own seats across the aisle. Jacqueline was envious when the woman donned big headphones and pulled her tablet up and began scrolling immediately. “I’ve done a lot of traveling by plane but never in a private jet. This is better than business and first class for sure.”

“I’ve never flown before,” she admitted to Wraith as he made

wide eyes at her. “I’m really nervous.” She looked at Wilder

who gave her a gentle smile. She held her hands up and noticed the trembling.

“Oh man, I’m an adrenaline junky so this to me is nothing. It’s like being in a car but in the air.” Wraith exclaimed. Wilder

was called away to talk to the captain and Wraith leaned forward to whisper across the aisle, “are you a couple?”

“No.” Rafferty moved to get between them and took the aisle seat next to Jacqueline. “She is not in a couple relationship with Wilder. She is in fact in a throuple relationship with both of,ys.”

She dug her elbow into Rafferty’s ribs as Wraith’s eyes bugged out and his mother gasped incredulously.

“Both?”

“Mind your business, Wraith,” Wilder ordered as he came back and took the seat facing Jacqueline. He leaned forward and rested his elbows on his knees, “I told your family today was the day we were leaving and taking the jet, and it seems they took it upon themselves to join us. If you don’t want them

on the plane, say so and we will leave without them.”

She’d ignored every attempt for her family to reach out to

her, especially her brother and sister who were at varying degrees of persistence. It had been a full week since the

catastrophe at their castle and she’d not spoken to them

even once. Now they were expecting to get on the plane with her for nearly four hours.

Jacqueline glared at Wilder, “are you kidding me? Why can’t they get there on their own?”

“Your guess is as good as mine,” Wilder shrugged. “However, they are outside the plane being held back by my security team. They have been made aware our client is on the flight,

and we do not want family drama. Your father has

demanded we at least ask you to allow him and your mother the opportunity to be near you, even if it’s in a public setting.”

“Fine,” she rolled her eyes.

“Hey,” Rafferty leaned closer, “it’ll give us more opportunities to watch what Jacinta is up to.”

“I really don’t like her.”

“We know,” Rafferty laughed as he kissed her temple.

She was getting used to the constant bits of affection. Kisses

to the cheek and a lot of hand holding were how both men

were weaseling their way into her good graces. For the past

several days, they’d been perfect gentlemen. They’d brought

her breakfast, taken her to lunch, spoiled her at dinners and her desk at the office held fresh flowers every single day.

“You want them to come don’t you?” she asked both men

seriously.

“We do, mostly for Winika’s benefit. She is not doing well to

know you don’t want to be around her. She was already loopy talking to fucking flowers. Apparently she’s inconsolable.” 3/7

“If she jumps on me, I’m jumping out of this plane.”

Wilder’s lips twitched at her words, “we will keep you safe from her antics. They were told to be on their best behavior because we have guests. We will go remind them.”

She watched as Wilder rose from his seat and Rafferty

followed him.

Wraith leaned sideways again, “what’s happening?”

“Apparently my family want to join us on the flight.” She rolled

her eyes.

“Your family?”

“My estranged family. Their world revolves around my

sister and she’s one of those pouty princesses who bat their

lashes and they believe all the lies which spew from her lips because she’s fucking gorgeous.”

“You’re fucking gorgeous. Surely you have them eating out of the palms of your hands.”

“No,” she laughed at Wraith’s flirting. “Not even close. She is a

demon, I swear.”

“Then why are they coming? If you don’t want to spend the holidays with them, why are they coming?”

“Because according to Rafferty and Wilder they are

incredible skiers and you might actually learn a thing or two

from my father and brother. They apparently have snow in their blood or something.”

“Well, they can’t be worse than my family,” he shot an annoyed look at his mother.

“You will have a whole new appreciation for your mother when you see mine,” she muttered back.

“Where is she?” The wailing and clanking of the metal stairs

foretold her mother’s exuberant entrance.

“And here we go,” she shot Wraith a look as his eyes widened at the sight of the woman.

“Darling!” her mother flung herself onto her knees in front of Jacqueline and wrapped her arms around Jacqueline’s legs. “There you are! I have missed you.”

“Winika, unhand my girl,” Wilder pointed at the woman on the floor and gestured at Jack to get his wife off the floor.

“Winika, my love, please get up. There are strangers about and Jacqueline is technically working at the moment. We

cannot make her uncomfortable at work.”

“Oh, she’s in a plane on her way to a wonderfully romantic winter wonderland of a small town. I was looking into it, Jacqueline, and it’s a lovely little town. You’re going to be swept off your feet by the twins, and you’ll connect with your bloodline, the snow, the cold.”

“Winika!” Jack leaned down to tug on his wife, “please. Get off

the floor.”

“Do not make me rescind my offer to permit you to come along on the flight,” Wilder growled angrily. “You are overwhelming her again Winika. If you do not want your daughter to stay away from you forever, then back the fuck up and give my girl her space.”

“I say we simply throw them off,” Rafferty snarled his own anger as he shoved past the king to stand protectively over Jacqueline, “because clearly their word which they gave outside is bullshit.”
