Dinner Date Part IV

“No. My sister came up with the third theory and there is no way Winika Frost gave up her child. It doesn’t make any kind of sense. None at all. I am certain of it. Also, I can’t see your father being part of it either.”
“Or Jack,” Wilder added. “As I said, he came to the southern
realm drunk trying to find you. Those were not the actions
of a complicit or guilty man. They were desperate and
pleading.”
“He’s an asshole.”
The comment from Jacqueline made the two brothers exchange glances and Wilder held her hand. “He will sort
himself out. You will see.”
“He literally came to my apartment, asked me if he could be my big brother and promised to protect me and then let them hurt me and when I defended myself he gave me shit. If I never see him again, it will be too soon.”
“I don’t think you really mean that,” Wilder said sad “He is 50

your brother for all intents and purposes and it’s possible he is under the influence of whatever spell or plan Jacinta is using. If she hired a witch, she may have bewitched the entire family.”
“Or she could simply be a master manipulator who has her
parents and brother wrapped around her finger so well that anyone else getting near her is presumed a threat. I don’t like her. I don’t want either of my siblings around me.”
“Jack, your father I mean, is meant to help with Wraith’s training on the slopes,” Wilder said softly, “the family will be
in the town with us.”
“Let them. I don’t need to be near them. I won’t be going to
dinners with them or hanging out on the slopes.” She made a face. “I can’t ski anyway.”
“You can’t ski?”
“No.”
“Skate?”
“Nope.”

“Have you ever been tobogganing?”
“No. Which part of being raised in foster care makes you think I was going on sledding trips or taken to a ski hill?”
“What about summer activities? Can you swim?” Wilder asked seriously. When she looked away, her jaw setting he kissed her fingers, “hey, this isn’t us making fun. This is us wanting to know what kind of activities you’ve done. For southern realm fae, we swim, dive, hike, and spend a lot of time out of doors. Northern fae enjoy the outdoors as well but
in winter activities.”
“I’ve not done any of those things.”
“Then,” Rafferty smiled, “there are all kinds of things we get to do with you which will be your firsts.”
“You talked before about wanting to make money. What do you want to spend your money on?” Wilder asked.
“Spend it? Why would I spend it?”
“Were you simply going to hoard it like a troll?”
“I want a nest egg to feel safe and secure.” 3/7

“Okay, let me rephrase the question,” Wilder shook his head, “if you had a comfortable amount of money in your account
and you could do anything you want and money was no
object, what would you do?”
She shrugged and then admitted softly, “I wanted the money in my account in case someday I got really sick and needed to pay medical bills. I’ve been afraid of dying because I can’t
afford treatment.”
“Fuck,” Wilder whispered as he covered his mouth with his
palm.
“Oh Jacqueline,” Rafferty’s expression was pained. “I’m so
sorry.”
“I’ve never had dreams or plans or ideas of things to do with money I didn’t have. All I ever wanted was to make money to have a roof over my head, food in my belly and a nest egg in
case I started to die.”
“You aren’t going to die anytime soon. You are going to live a long and fruitful life.” Wilder brushed hair off her cheek. “We’re going to show you the world, Jacqueline. All the things you didn’t dare dream of; we’re going to make happen.

Fancy dinners,” he waved to the table, “exotic trips, quiet
nights in and loud nights out. Beaches and snow caps. We’re going to give it all to you. We love you already Jacqueline.”
“We love you more than we can express,” Rafferty said
seriously. “I want to give you everything you deserve.”
“You’re not going to start fighting over me again are you?” she asked seriously.
“Nope. We had a very serious conversation. We may try to outdo one another, and we may vie for your attention, but we accept now that we are meant to be a trio.”
“It’s so risqué,” she said quietly. “I’ve never even had a real boyfriend let alone two at once.”
“You’ve never had a boyfriend?”
“I’ve gone on dates. I’ve done the tinder hookup when the urge hits you know,” she shrugged, “but actually having someone I would call a boyfriend or partner? Nope.”
“Us either.”
“What?”

Wilder shook his head at her disbelief. “Fae will flirt and take lovers but for the most part, we don’t take partners or girlfriends or long–term lovers because there is risk of our mates coming in and having their feelings hurt. That’s not to
say there aren’t fae out there who don’t want to trap a prince with a baby or cause a scandal to make themselves rich.
There are also humans who don’t know fae exist. We’ve both
had instance where female humans try to get more than is being offered and we’ve had to shut things down hard. However, I’ve never had repeat sex with any woman. I’ve never let a woman sleep in my bed. I’ve never held a woman
after sex.”
“I’ve also never gone down on a woman or let a woman go down on me,” Rafferty expounded. “Sex is sex but that is all.”
“Same.”
“This is a lot of information,” she rubbed her forehead in
confusion.
“All you need to know, my mate,” Wilder said with a smile, “is that you are the last person either of us will ever sleep with. We are here to be yours in every sense of the word and that is sexually, emotionally and physically. What you need from

us, we will provide.”
She nodded and then commented, “then there is something I need from you both.”
“Name it.” Rafferty said seriously.
“Time. I need time. I understand for you that this is some
kind of urgent feeling but I’m not feeling it yet to the same degree. I feel something. I feel a connection or a pull and there is definitely a need and the dreams I had last night were wild but I’m not ready to enact any of them.”
“You dreamed of us?” Wilder almost crowed with pride.
“Yes but then I also dreamed of my crazy family and I’m not
ready for all of that. Please.”
“We will keep you safe from them,” he leaned sideways and
kissed her cheek.
Rafferty kissed her other cheek, “whatever you need, we will give you. I don’t care if it takes decades. I will wait.” He shot
Wilder a look, “we will wait.”
