Jacqueline sat at the table with her three mates and felt a sense of peace fall over her.

This was what her life was meant to be. It felt right to be sitting at dinner with the three of them, enjoying a meal and

quiet conversation.

“I like this,” she whispered suddenly finding three sets of eyes

focused on her.

Bar rested his hand on her thigh under the table, “I do too. It

feels good to have you here.”

“It’s really weird how absolutely comfortable this is,” Rafferty

said as he lifted a spoonful of a thick hearty stew to his lips. “I was really thinking this would be far harder than it is. The truth is the only thing hard is my dick when she’s feeling

“Rafferty,” she blushed at his words.

She stared into the bowl as Bar’s hand squeezed her thigh

“Jacqueline, you need to learn to relax in the presence of your mates. We are going to talk to you and it’s going to be bawdy.”

“Bawdy?” she looked at Bar in amusement. “You’ve really

“Jack put in front of the temple and I immediately felt her calling her to me. It was an instant connection to the Queen

Mother.”

“It is what she was always called. Somehow over the centuries, it’s been a name which was lost. Perhaps because it seems to familiar and priestesses wanted to keep it formal in their worship of her but it’s a parental relationship she has with us. Me more than any of you,” she waved around the table. “She was calling to me. I felt the entire shift in my body when I stepped into the temple garden. I got into the inner sanctum of the temple, and the priestess started the ritual. Jack was freaking out. Then I was in the other realm.”

“Whoa,” Wilder held his hand up, “I thought maybe it was like

a trance, but when you say you went to the other realm, did

you?” he let the question hang in the air.

“I drowned. My body was in the temple, with the priestesses guarding it but my soul, my essence of being was in Mother’s

garden.”

“You died,” Rafferty gasped the word out.

“Not really. I could return to my body at any time. I needed to leave this world, this body,” she waved at herself, “to find my purpose.”

Wilder rubbed his face in disbelief while Rafferty was pale.

“You are truly her daughter then?” Bar asked in confusion.

“How does that work?”

“She created a soul for her daughter and put it into a body which Jack and Winika would create. I have their blood, a body made of their flesh, but a soul entirely of the Queen 8/11

She took a breath, “you are right, Rafferty. I need to deal with

her and them. They are going to be sad over the punishment

which I must dole out.”

“You mentioned today she will never have a mate.”

“My mother took hers from her and gave him to someone

who lost her own mate. He deserved better than a selfish fae

who doesn’t know how to love.” She said bitterly.
