The following morning we came downstairs to a completely full breakfast already prepared by that witch that Angelo hired to cook for us. And we sat down to eat almost all of it. And I saw Mitchell walk through the dining room, avoiding the sunlight as he was headed to the basement.
"How’s the neck?" I asked and Tyler chocked on his coffee.
"Fuck you." Mitchell says as he kept walking and I smirked at Tyler.
"Why do you need to do that?" Tyler asked.
"Because it’s fun." I say. Then Gladys walked into the room.
"You’re up and eating. That’s great to see. We have a lot of work to do today." She says.
"I know. Do you want some breakfast?" I asked.
"No thanks. I’ve already eaten." She says.
"We’re gonna have to break up our training hours though. Angelo says that he wants to be there for some of it too." She says.
"That doesn’t surprise me. So, how do you and Angelo know each other?" I asked as she sat at the table.
"He saved my life. Which I didn’t understand at the time. Until he told me that I then owed him a favor." She says.
"Is this the favor?" I asked pouring myself another coffee.
"Yes. It is." She says. And it got me wondering why he would use that kind of favour for me. That was a little weird. But he obviously wanted me to have it.
"Has he ever showed compassion, true compassion, for anyone?" I asked.
"Only you. That’s as far as I’ve seen. But there have been rumours about a women up North about 15 years ago or so." She explained.
"That would have been my mother. Apparently he was pretty sweet on her. Which was completely out of character." I say.
"Yeah. It is out of character for him." She says.
Once we finished eating breakfast Gladys and I walked out to the courtyard and Tyler sat off to the side to watch for a bit. We sat on the ground in the middle of the courtyard and she had a spell book in front of her.
"Alright. This one is easy. You need to focus your energy into your hands and then start to raise them above your head. Make sure you concentrate and keep your energy in your hands and nowhere else." She explained.
So I took a deep breath and I raised my hands to my waist and I focused all my energy to my hands and I slowly started raising them higher and higher until they were over my head.
I didn’t feel any different and I was looking at Gladys so I didn’t think I was actually doing anything until Tyler stood up.
"That is so cool." Tyler says. So I looked around and all the leaves in the courtyard and floating stationary in the air.
"Holy shit." I say.
"Alright. Now slightly move your hands to the right." She says. So I concentrate back on my hands and slightly move them to the left and the leaves started moving slowly to the right. But then they started getting faster and faster and I knew that I was loosing control of them. That was a little harder to do. So I dropped the concentration from the hands and took the power away from my hands and they all dropped to the ground.
"Sorry. I didn’t mean for that to happen." I say.
"That’s alright. You did perfect. You stopped them all on your own. I didn’t have to tell you how to do that. That was perfect. And you realized when you were loosing control. That’s what is most important." She explained. " Now, let’s do that again." She says.
We kept working at it for a couple of hours before Gladys had other things to do. I couldn’t expect her to put her life on hold to help me. So she left and Tyler and I went for another walk around the city. Angelo was still asleep in the basement so he wouldn’t know. And we were definitley on high alert.
When we got back to the mansion it was before sunset and we saw the witch in the kitchen making dinner.
"Do you want some help in here? I hate that Angelo actually bought you in here to cook for just us two." I tell her.
"No. I’m fine. I love cooking and he’s paying me well." She says.
"Alright. Well, thank you for all this. The breakfast this morning was delicious." I say.
"I’m glad you liked it." She says.
"By the way, I’m Tessa and this is Tyler." I say.
"I’m Elsie." She says.
"Well, it’s nice to meet you." I say.
When I walk back into the living room Tyler was just getting off the phone and he didn’t look too happy.
"What’s going on? Problems back at the pack?" I asked.
"Yeah. Adam thinks that since I’m not there then he’s in charge." Tyler says.
