The Shadow of a Luna (Tessa and Tyler) novel Chapter 36

Chapter 36: Chapter 36

We didn’t get home until after sundown and we were covered in soot and dirt and blood and my arm was aching like hell from where that vampire bit me. And when we walked back into the courtyard of the mansion I was rubbing my right shoulder just thinking about the pain that I was in.

Tyler walked over to me and pushed my hand away roughly because he could feel the pain getting worse and he stared at it for a moment.

"What does it mean when a werewolf gets bitten by a vampire?" Tyler asked.

"They usually turn into a vampire." Ethan answers. And Tyler looked at me with wide eyes.

"I’m already half vampire." I say.

"What happens when a werewolf/vampire hybrid gets bitten by a vampire?" Tyler asked.

"Nothing. It just hurts like a bitch for a few hours." Angelo says coming out of the house.

"There you go. Nothing is going to happen to me. It just hurts." I say. And Angelo walks over and looks at the wound.

"It only hurts this much because the vampire that’s already inside of her is fighting this new vampire that is trying to come out. But it won’t work. I’ve been bitten heaps of times. Mostly by those guys." He says pointing to his siblings and I laugh.

"Nice work. At least it helps me now." I say.

"Anything to help our favorite niece." Elias says walking over and hugging me. " Thank god you are back. Did anything go wrong?" He asked.

"Of course it did. But we handled it." I say.

"Tessa handled it. We were just trying to keep the vampires at bay." Tobias says.

"Let’s just hope he doesn’t have another army hidden somewhere." Aria says and we all look at her in shock and horror.

"Why would you say something like that? You realize that you just jinxed us. He probably does now. Or he probably will before he attacks." Wyatt yells at her.

"Well, I’ve been thinking it. Why would he keep his entire army in one place?" She asked.

"She actually makes a good point." I say.

"Oh god. No. We just blew up one building today. Can we just chill out for a day or two before we go looking for anymore nests?" Tyler begs.

"Fine. I guess so." I say.

"Good. Thank you." He says. And I hear everyone else let out a breath as well like they were expecting me to tell them that we’re going straight back out again tonight or something. God, I’m not that mean.

"Alright. I’m going to go and shower and change my clothes because I feel gross." I say.

So after we all got cleaned up I went down to the kitchen and it had been fully stocked again and I started cooking dinner for everyone. There were a lot of mouths to feed so I needed to cook for a lot of people. So Bella and Aria helped with prepping the food which was a lot of help.

"Do you know what you’re going to do with yourself when you get back home?" Bella asked me.

"Not really. Besides, I’m still trying to find out what businesses Tyler owns in the human towns. That’s where he makes all of his money. But he won’t tell me what they are." I say.

"Why didn’t you just ask me? I’m his cousin, remember?" She says.

"Oh yeah. What businesses does he own?" I asked.

"About five hotels, five motels, 8 restaurants and about 10 cafe’s." She says.

"Holy shit. Are they all successful?" I asked.

"Always booked out." She says.

"Wow. I am going to be so wealthy when I get sick of him and smother him in his sleep." I say and the girls started laughing.

"Hey, I heard that." Tyler yelled from the other room and I started laughing too. Along with his friends.

"Love you baby." I say teasingly.

"Yeah sure. Until you want to kill me." He says.

"Well yeah. I promise to love you up until that very second." I say.

"Women." He muttered but we still heard him and I started laughing again.

That night was all about having a good night and cheering to our small victory today. It was just a small victory. We still had a lot to do and a long way to go before this war was over. But for now, we were enjoying every second of it.

We had a couple drinks that night but I went to bed early because I was exhausted. I tried to stay up as late as possible to spend time with my aunts and uncles, but they understood that we were on different timelines.

When I woke up the next morning the light was really bright that I didn’t want to open my eyes. I turned my back to the window and pulled the covers over my head. But I felt Tyler move on the bed beside me and he leaned over me and I could feel his hot breath on my ear.
