Chapter Two Hundred Thirty Eight
A month had passed since Diana received the mysterious letter.
During that time, life in Black Howler had become peaceful, quiet, and almost uneventful. Warriors continued their training. Pups played freely in the gardens and parks. Families gathered in the Pack House, and the omegas went about their daily responsibilities.
Diana was grateful for the peace. She truly was. But there was one thing that had not changed. Talon.
Her mate remained just as protective as ever. Every morning, he reminded her to rest.
Every afternoon, he asked whether she had eaten, whether she had taken her potions to help her pups, and whether the pups were moving normally. Every evening, he insisted that she stop whatever she was doing and return to their suite.
And every day, Diana found new ways to do the exact opposite of what he told her.
She was the Luna Queen of Black Howler. There were responsibilities she could still fulfill without putting herself or their pups in danger. She attended meetings with the omegas, checked on the families who were still recovering from the war, reviewed preparations for the arrival of the newborn pups in the pack, and occasionally visited the training grounds to watch the younger warriors practice.
She no longer participated in training, much to her disappointment. But she could still offer advice. She could still listen to her people. And she could still be their Luna.
Unfortunately, Talon seemed to believe that being Luna Queen required her to sit comfortably on a couch while everyone else did the work.
“Diana, you need to rest.”
That had become his favorite sentence. And Diana had developed an equally familiar response.
“Talon, I am resting.”
Usually, she said it while walking somewhere, reviewing reports, or discussing pack matters with one of the omegas. Fenrir had eventually stopped believing her. Artemis, on the other hand, found the entire situation amusing.
“Our mate is going to lose his mind before the pups are born,” Artemis commented one afternoon.
Diana smiled as she walked through the Pack House.
“He already has.”
“He worries because he loves us.”
“I know.”
“And because you refuse to listen.”
“I listen.”
Artemis snorted. Diana ignored her. Despite their constant disagreements about how much rest she needed, Diana and Talon were happy. Their pups were healthy. Their pack was safe.
And somewhere beyond Black Howler, two people who had once seemed destined to lose everything were living peacefully with their newborn son. Diana had not received another message from them. She had not expected one.
The first letter had already given her the reassurance she needed. They were safe. They were together. And the curse had not returned. That was enough.
Or so she thought.
Until another letter arrived. The second letter appeared among the morning correspondence, just as the first one had. There was no return address. No name identifying the sender.
Only Diana’s name, written in the same neat handwriting she remembered from the previous letter. And surrounding the envelope was the same faint trace of white magic.
This time, Talon recognized it immediately. He did not attempt to open the letter. Instead, he sent someone to find Diana and asked her to come to his office.
When Diana arrived, she found her mate standing beside his desk, holding the envelope. The moment she saw it, she stopped.
“Talon?”
He raised the letter.
“Another one.”
Diana’s heart beat a little faster. She approached him and carefully took the envelope from his hand. The familiar warmth brushed against her fingertips. Artemis immediately stirred.
“It is the same magic.”
“Yes,” Diana answered silently.
Talon watched her expression.
“Do you recognize it?”
Diana nodded.
“I think so.”
He moved closer as she carefully opened the envelope. Inside was a single sheet of paper. At first glance, the message appeared short. Talon leaned over her shoulder. Diana began reading. Her expression slowly changed.
The letter did not contain another announcement about the newborn child. Nor was it simply a message reassuring her that the family remained safe. This time, the sender wanted to meet her. In person. Diana read the letter again. Then a third time.
The message was carefully worded. The sender did not mention a name or reveal a location that could identify where the letter had originated. Instead, the letter instructed Diana to travel to a human territory on a particular day, at a specific time.
The meeting place was somewhere ordinary. Somewhere wolves and witches could pass through without attracting attention.
A neutral location where no one would recognize them or question why they had come. The sender explained that there was something important she needed to discuss with the Silver Wolf. Something that could not safely be explained in a letter.
The matter was urgent. However, the sender also acknowledged Diana’s pregnancy. She understood that traveling so close to her due date might be difficult, and she would not hold it against Diana if she decided not to come.
But if Diana chose to attend, the sender would be waiting at the appointed place and time.
Diana slowly lowered the letter. Her excitement was mixed with concern. Why does she want to meet me now?
Months had passed without any sign of danger. The previous letter had said that everything was fine. So what could have happened that required a private meeting?
“Diana?”

“Diana, you are eight months pregnant. You are carrying twins. And you are approximately one month away from giving birth.”
you going to tell me how many times the pups have kicked today as well?”
