The Silver Wolf (Diana and Talon) novel Chapter 241

Chapter Two Hundred Forty One

Chapter Two Hundred Forty One

What do you mean, Gideon’s soul was released?” Talon demanded.

His voice was low, but Diana could hear the anger and disbelief beneath it.

Ravenna tightened her hold on Damien, who was still sleeping peacefully in her arms. She glanced at Thorne, standing beside her, before looking back at the Alpha King.

“Talon, I know this is difficult to understand. I did not believe it myself when Thorne first told me.”

“Then explain it,” Talon said. “We saw it, the curse was gone. You told us Thorne had lost his magic, and that Gideon could no longer control him. Now you are telling us Gideon’s soul has been

released?”

“Yes,” Ravenna answered quietly.

“Released where?”

Ravenna hesitated.

“That is what we do not know.”

Talon’s expression darkened. Diana placed a hand on his arm.

“Talon, let her explain.”

He looked at his mate, then at the sleeping child in Ravenna’s arms. After a moment, he nodded,

although his entire body remained tense.

Ravenna turned toward Thorne.

“My love,” she said softly, “can you tell them what happened? Tell them what you remember from

the time you were consumed by Gideon’s curse.”

Thorne looked at her. For a moment, he said nothing. Diana noticed the way his expression

changed. His gaze lowered, and his hands slowly curled into fists at his sides. Whatever he

remembered, speaking about it was clearly painful.

Ravenna reached for his hand.

“Thorne.”

He looked at her again. She gave him a reassuring smile.

“It is all right, my love. Tell them what you told me.”

Thorne glanced at Damien, then gently squeezed Ravenna’s hand. He took a deep breath and

turned toward Diana and Talon.

“Alpha King. Luna Queen.”

He bowed his head respectfully.

“My name is Thorne. I am Ravenna’s mate.”

Diana studied him. She had seen him on the battlefield, surrounded by darkness and commanding

an army of feral wolves. She remembered the overwhelming power that had poured from his body

and the hatred in his eyes when he had attacked them.

But the male standing before her now was different. There was no dark aura surrounding him. No overwhelming magical presence. He looked like an ordinary human male standing beside his mate

and their child.

Yet the memories of what had happened during the war remained painfully clear.

Thorne lifted his head.

“Before I begin, I want you both to know that I remember what happened after Ravenna freed me from the curse. I remember the battlefield. I remember the injured wolves and the destruction

around us.”

His voice became quieter.

“And I remember what I almost did to my mate.”

Ravenna’s fingers tightened around his hand. Thorne looked at her briefly before continuing.

“But there are also things I remember from the time Gideon’s curse controlled me.”

Talon folded his arms.

“Go on.”

Thorne took another breath.

“As my mate said, there were moments when I was conscious inside the curse. They were brief. Sometimes they lasted only a few seconds before the darkness overwhelmed me again.”

Diana frowned.

“You were aware of what was happening?”

“Not all the time.”

Thorne shook his head.

“Most of the time, I had no control over my thoughts or actions. It was as though I had been pushed deep inside my own mind while something else used my body.”

His expression tightened.

“I could not move when I wanted to move. I could not speak when I wanted to speak. And even when I recognized something was wrong, I could not stop what was happening.”

Ravenna lowered her gaze.

Diana remembered the way Thorne had looked at Ravenna after the curse was expelled from his body. The confusion in his eyes. The horror when he realized what had happened.

“During those brief moments of consciousness,” Thorne continued, “I could see the darkness surrounding me. It was everywhere. There was no light, no sense of time, and no way for me to

escape.”

He paused.

“And I was not alone.”

Diana became still.

“Gideon?”

Thorne nodded.

“Yes.”

Talon leaned forward slightly.

“What did you see?”

“His soul.”

Thorne looked down at his hands.

“I cannot explain exactly how I knew it was him. I had never met Gideon. He died thousands of years before I was born. But the moment I became aware of his presence, I knew.”

His voice lowered.

“It was Gideon.”

Diana exchanged a glance with Talon.

“Was he controlling the curse?” she asked.

Thorne shook his head.

“No. That is what I am trying to explain.”

Talon frowned.

“What do you mean?”

“Gideon’s soul was trapped inside the curse, just as I was.”

Silence fell between them. Diana stared at him.

“Trapped?”

“Yes.”

“But Gideon created the curse,” Talon said. “It carried his hatred and his desire for revenge. Are you telling us he was trapped inside his own magic?”

“That is what I experienced, Alpha King.”

Thorne looked directly at him.

“During those moments when I was conscious, I could sense him. I could feel his presence within the darkness, but he could not speak to me.”

“Did you try speaking to him?” Diana asked.

“I could not.”

Thorne shook his head.

“I could think, but I could not make myself heard. It was as though we were both imprisoned in the same place, unable to reach each other.”

Diana placed a hand over her belly as one of her pups moved.

“What could you feel from him?”

Thorne hesitated. Ravenna gently rubbed his arm. He looked at her, then turned back to Diana.

“Pain.”

His answer was barely above a whisper.

“An overwhelming amount of pain.”

Diana remained silent.

“Loneliness,” Thorne continued. “A loneliness so deep that I cannot describe it. I felt as though he had been trapped there for an eternity.”

Thorne swallowed.

“And shame.”

Talon’s eyes narrowed.

“Shame?”

“Yes.”

“For what?”

Thorne looked down.

“For what his curse had done.”
