Chapter 108
Amara was a social climber to her core.
Chapter 108
If she realized Northside’s crown prince was still blindly devoted to her, wouldn’t she rush back on the first flight to lock him down?
Right now, nobody wanted Amara back in the country more than Vivian. She desperately needed someone to distract Jonah.
At exactly six o’clock, a text from the devil himself lit up her screen.
For the first time, Vivian felt like the workday had flown by entirely too fast. How was it/ already evening? Wasn’t it just noon a minute ago?
But beggars couldn’t be choosers. She had no right to decline.
By the time she parked at the restaurant, the sky was completely dark.
The building was one of Northside’s most iconic landmarks, towering eighty-eight stories high. The rooftop restaurant was dripping in romance and exclusivity; ordinary people couldn’t secure a reservation even if they had the money.
Standing on the sidewalk, Vivian tilted her head back. The skyscraper pierced the clouds, cold and intensely intimidating.
“Vivian.”
The man’s smooth voice pulled her back to reality. She turned to find Jonah approaching. He had swapped his white coat for a tailored suit, radiating the calculated, ruthless energy of a corporate shark.
“Why didn’t you call when you arrived? I would have come down to get you.”
“You came down anyway, didn’t you?”
Vivian shot him a flat look and brushed past him into the lobby.
Jonah’s expression darkened for a fraction of a second before his long legs easily caught up to her. “I’ve known the head chef here for years. Just let him know if there’s anything specific you’re craving.”
Vivian offered a distracted hum, not bothering to engage.
They stepped into the elevator.
It was a glass elevator clamped to the exterior of the building. As it shot upward, the glittering cityscape blurred past them. The dizzying speed almost felt like launching into orbit.
11:30
Finally, the doors pinged open.
Jonah held the door, allowing Vivian to step out first.
He must have rented out the entire place. The massive dining room was entirely empty, save for a violinist playing a soft, romantic melody in the corner.
He led her to the best table in the house, offering a panoramic view of Northside. Like a perfect gentleman, he pulled out her chair, waiting until she was seated before taking his own place across from her.
Vivian stared out the floor-to-ceiling windows. The flickering candlelight cast shadows across her flawless features, creating an alluring, enigmatic beauty that was impossible to ignore.
Jonah finished ordering with the waiter and turned back to her.
She looked like a painting come to life.
Sensing his intense stare, Vivian shifted her gaze back to him. The candlelight reflected in her crystal-clear eyes. “Spit it out. You practically blackmailed me into this dinner. What do you want to talk about?”
Jonah offered her a warm, damp towel, but she completely ignored it.
Unfazed, he set it down and casually wiped his own hands.
“Does every dinner with you require an agenda?”
“Absolutely.”
Vivian let out a dry chuckle. “You probably don’t realize how expensive my time is. Honestly… you should be paying me by the second.”
Jonah smiled.
It was a rare, genuine smile that almost made him look human.
“Name your price. I’ll pay it.”
1 “You can’t afford it.”
