The Stand-In Who Burned the Script novel Chapter 113

Chapter 113

Silas’s thunderous expression didn’t improve even as they walked out the door.

Simon and Vivian trailed behind him, occasionally exchanging glances that reeked of mutual sympathy for their shared suffering.

Vivian whispered, “My intentions were pure. I was just trying to help him out.”

Simon kept his voice even lower. “Anyone would misinterpret a scene like that. I was just trying not to interrupt a good time.”

“Mhm, very observant. Keep that up next time.”

Miss Fairchild, is this really the time for jokes?

Simon was about to say something when the man ahead abruptly stopped. As if pushing his self-control to the absolute brink, Silas looked up at the sky for a moment before turning

around.

“Since you two hit it off so well, why don’t you go work at her company starting today?”

Simon’s face crumpled in misery. “Mr. Sterling…”

Silas ignored him, turning his gaze toward the woman who was clearly enjoying the show. “How about I give him to you as an assistant?”

Vivian smiled. “Thanks, but I already have an assistant.”

The man scoffed, turning on his heel to head toward the dining room.

Simon snuck a glance at her and whispered, “Miss Fairchild… the boss isn’t actually going to exile me, is he?”

“Not for now. At the very least, you’re still his most useful asset. Let’s eat.”

Vivian gave him a reassuring look and asked casually as they walked, “Where are you two heading later?”

“The hospital.”

“Hmm?”

“The boss needs a routine checkup for his eyes.”

Vivian nodded. That meant there was indeed a chance Silas’s vision could recover.

Given the Sterling family’s status and power, they undoubtedly had access to the best

medical teams in the world. The fact that there had been zero progress meant he was injured incredibly severely.

Vivian said, “I’ll go with you.”

“Huh?”

“What do you mean, ‘huh? As his wife, isn’t it perfectly normal for me to care about his health?”

When she put it like that, it did make sense.

After breakfast, they headed out. Simon slid into the driver’s seat.

Vivian naturally slipped into the back from the other side.

The moment Silas heard the door shut, he frowned. “What are you doing here?”

Vivian tilted her head, giving him a radiant smile. “Accompanying you to your checkup, of course. A good wife should always be up to date on her husband’s health.”

“What?”

What did she just call him?

“Is that wrong?”

Vivian didn’t repeat herself. Instead, she looked forward at Simon. “Drive.”

Simon was caught between a rock and a hard place, but seeing his boss sitting there frozen and not voicing an objection, he quickly started the engine.

It was Vivian’s first time riding in Silas’s personal car. The all-leather interior and upgraded custom seats were unbelievably comfortable.

She couldn’t help but sigh inwardly-

It looked understated, but billionaires definitely knew how to enjoy life.

The man beside her kept his eyes closed, the entire cabin plunged into an eerie silence.

Wide awake, Vivian found herself staring at his flawlessly sculpted face. The upper-class socialites who spread rumors about him being a cripple really had a wild imagination.

Blind?

Even if he were missing a leg, women would still throw themselves at him.

As they neared the hospital, the streets outside grew familiar.
