The Stand-In Who Burned the Script novel Chapter 114

Chapter 114

Chloe Jones happened to call, so Vivian chatted with her in the restroom for a bit. By the time she walked out, over ten minutes had passed.

Just as she turned the corner, a large hand shot out, violently yanking her over.

“What the hell…!”

Looking up, she realized it was Jonah Granger.

They were so close their breaths tangled together. The emergency stairwell was dimly lit,

and with his back to the light, she couldn’t make out his expression. Yet, the dangerous aura

radiating off him was impossible to ignore.

Vivian’s breath hitched slightly. “Jonah, what are you doing?”

“What am I doing?”

He sneered. “What do you think I’m doing?”

“Vivian, since when did you start playing these manipulative games? Hmm? Stringing me along while tangling yourself up with Silas Sterling?”

Tangling up?

Spending time with her own husband was completely justified.

Vivian curled her lips into a mocking smile, her tone completely flat. “Aren’t you overreacting, Jonah? Or do you genuinely think I had a choice when Silas told me to accompany him to the hospital?”

“Heh.”

Jonah scoffed. “You, Vivian Fairchild, didn’t have a choice?”

She was bold enough to do whatever she wanted! Was there anyone she couldn’t say no to?

Vivian stated the facts calmly. “We’re dating.”

Jonah absolutely refused to believe that Vivian would settle for a blind man, and he certainly didn’t believe Silas would fall for an invalid.

His mind raced, and a sudden realization hit him.

He took a deep breath.

He let go.

“Vivian, you brought him to Central Hospital just to make me jealous, didn’t you?”

“…” That was actually not true at all.

“You wanted me to be jealous?”

“…”. Also no.

When she didn’t answer, Jonah became even more convinced of his theory. He exhaled a heavy breath and said, “Vivian, I know you have your pride, but enough is enough. Stop testing my patience.”

As the man spoke, he stepped closer. Vivian leaned back subtly, putting some distance

between them.

But to an onlooker, it would look exactly like she was nestled in his arms.

That ambiguous, teasing distance was incredibly seductive.

Jonah had never felt this way before.

His intense gaze locked onto her, pulling her in like a vortex.

Vivian offered a calm smile, raising one hand to press against his chest. “Dr. Granger, you seem to have forgotten that you were the one who discarded me first. Don’t you feel pathetic changing your mind so constantly?”

The air went dead silent in an instant.

In the gloom, Vivian couldn’t see his eyes.

But she could feel the chilling glare directed at her, as if he wanted to kill her.

She knew she was playing with fire.

But over the past three years, she had poured absolute sincerity into him.
