Chapter 119
Vivian shot her a sharp glance. “You seem to know quite a lot, Martha.”
“I… I was just trying to comfort you. I misspoke. Please don’t be angry, Miss!”
Vivian, of course, wasn’t actually angry.
But she understood one rule better than anyone-
You had to win over the household staff, but you could never get too close, especially when they had already been bought by another woman.
The necklace resting against Martha’s collar was a custom luxury piece worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. It was completely out of reach for someone on a housekeeper’s salary.
Vivian calmly looked away. “Thank you. But don’t compare me to anyone else again. Besides… Miss Grace has been out of the picture for a long time.”
“Yes… yes, I understand, Miss. I won’t speak out of turn again.”
Breaking into a cold sweat, Martha quickly hurried away.
Vivian glanced in her direction but didn’t stop her.
The worst she could do was run off to tip off the actress.
After breakfast, she grabbed a random set of car keys from the bowl by the door and headed
out.
The drive to the office took just twenty minutes. After running through the day’s schedule, Zoe Hunt added, “Boss, Amara Fairchild is coming back.”
“Oh?”
Vivian finally looked interested, lifting her head. “When?”
“Tomorrow.”
Zoe continued, “She’s already had the newest mechanical valve from Switzerland implanted, and it looks like her recovery is going smoothly.”
“Even without that valve, she would have lived a long time.”
Vivian lazily spun a pen between her fingers. “Haven’t you heard? The bad ones always live the longest.”
“Should we do anything about it?”
“No need.”
“But…”
“No buts.” Vivian’s light gaze gave nothing away. “Jonah’s identity can’t stay hidden forever Just dealing with him will keep Amara more than busy enough.”
Given that woman’s gold-digging nature, the second she realized the doctor doting on her was actually the heir to the Granger family, she would be over the moon.
Jonah was about to have his hands full.
Vivian chuckled softly. “Any news on The Stella Pendant?”
“Not yet.”
“Mhm,” she nodded. “No news is good news. As long as it hasn’t been fenced overseas, we still have a chance. Keep digging.”
By the time she finished work, Silas’s car was already parked downstairs.
Vivian and Zoe walked out together. The moment she spotted him, a radiant smile bloomed on her face, and she jogged over.
“You’re so punctual.”
“Unlike some people, Miss Fairchild.”
The man’s gaze was frigid. “Get in.”
Simon stepped out of the driver’s seat and respectfully pulled open the rear door.
Pouting, Vivian slid in and immediately plastered herself against his side. “When am I ever late? Stop making false accusations.”
