The Stand-In Who Burned the Script novel Chapter 125

Chapter 125

“Silas.”

Vivian kept her tone even, but a hint of playful arrogance slipped through. “I’m a woman. You’re demanding a woman sleep on the couch while you take the bed? Where are your

manners?”

The man clenched his jaw. Suddenly, he leaned over her, planting his hands firmly on either side of her body. His clean, intoxicating woodsy scent instantly flooded her senses.

His voice rumbled like aged whiskey. “I’ve already told you, I have no manners, and I have no sex life. Are you deaf?”

“Nope.”

Vivian pouted slightly. “And I didn’t say I wanted to sleep with you. I just literally want to sleep.”

п

Just as Silas’s patience reached its absolute limit, she unexpectedly reached up, hooked her arms around his neck, and yanked him down onto the mattress.

“Sharing a bed isn’t going to kill you. Stop being so stingy.”

“..”

Silas felt a heavy surge of irritation in his chest. He peeled her hands off his neck, grabbed the duvet, and threw it directly over her head. Still unsatisfied, he aggressively swept her long hair off his arm.

The rough gestures were fueled by annoyance, but they bizarrely carried the intimate tension of a lovers’ quarrel.

By the time Vivian managed to untangle herself from the blanket, he was already out of bed.

His towering frame stood there, blocking the majority of the room’s dim light.

“You’re really not going to leave?”

“Nope.”

“Fine.”

He turned on his heel and walked away without a shred of hesitation.

Vivian had no idea how he managed to unlock the door, but once he was gone, she propped herself up on her elbows and laughed.

Silas acted like a monk, but… he didn’t seem entirely repulsed by her either.

Silas went down to the study on the first floor. Grandpa primarily used the space, but Silas Occasionally handled business there when visiting.

It was only after booting up the computer that he realized he had left his phone and Bluetooth headphones upstairs. And upstairs was-

He pinched the bridge of his nose. It had been a long time since he’d had a headache this

severe.

That woman was sent here solely to torture him.

Grandpa’s words suddenly echoed in his mind-

[Vivian has had a tough life. Her mother died early, and her father only cares about his mistress and illegitimate daughter. She’s been through the wringer since she was a kid. The hardships she’s faced are beyond what privileged kids like you could ever imagine. Of course, I think she’s perfect for you… but not just because of that.]

Silas knew full well this was just the old man’s rehearsed speech to win his sympathy.

What kind of hardship could Vivian possibly suffer?

Even if her father favored his mistress and bastard child, with a personality like hers, she would likely just torment them until they begged for mercy.

Silas squeezed his eyes shut. When he opened them again, his vision seemed slightly clearer

than before.
