The Stand-In Who Burned the Script novel Chapter 124

Chapter 124

Ever since Silas injured his eyes, there was rarely any harsh lighting wherever he went. The room was bathed in shadows, thick with an undeniable, seductive tension.

Standing this close, even their breaths mingled.

Silas’s pitch-black eyes felt like a void capable of dragging her under in an instant.

He released her wrist abruptly, his voice a low, heavy rumble. “Whether it works or not, you should know by now.”

Meaning, regardless of the temptation, he wasn’t going to sleep with her.

Honestly-

He was such a repressed hypocrite.

Vivian licked her lips. She had only planned on conquering him to secure her position, but the closer she got, the more dangerously intriguing she found him.

While she was momentarily distracted, Silas stepped away. He opened the closet, felt around for a moment, and pulled out a dark gray loungewear set.

She leaned against the wall, crossing her arms.

“Need some help?”

The closet doors were still open, framing his spectacular physique perfectly as he stood there with the clothes draped over one arm.

He had adjusted his towel when he walked over, and now it hung dangerously low on his hips. It was a mouth-watering sight she couldn’t tear her eyes away from.

“Whether you actually want to help or try something else… there’s no need to play games.”

Silas jerked his chin toward the door. “Get out, Vivian.”

“You really…”

Vivian didn’t know whether to laugh or be furious. This man treated her like a total predator and refused to give her even an inch.

She pressed her lips together and retorted sharply, “We’ve been married for days, and the thing you say to me the most is ‘get out. Do I have no pride?”

“Pride is earned, not given. If you didn’t go out of your way to annoy me every waking second,

I might actually respect you,” the man replied with terrifying calm.

“…Oh.”

Well, that was a fair point.

Vivian let out a highly exaggerated sigh. “Fine, fine. I’ll leave so you can start respecting me But I just want to clarify, Mr. Sterling. I tried pursuing you the normal way, and you rejected me. I’m just taking a different approach.”

She waved her hands in mock surrender as she backed toward the door, her eyes never leaving his body-

Lust truly clouded all rational judgment.

This magnificent physical specimen was driving her entirely out of her mind.

Reaching the door, she added playfully, “I’m leaving now.”

“Seriously, I’m going.”

She gripped the handle and twisted. Oh, great.

It wouldn’t budge.

Vivian rubbed her nose, turning back around. “I have some unfortunate news. Grandpa locked the door from the outside. I can’t leave.”

Water was still dripping from Silas’s hair. He ran a hand through it, slicking it back severely and exposing his sharp jawline.

He could easily toss this woman out a window, but he was utterly defenseless against the old man’s antics.

He spun around and walked into the bathroom.
