Chapter 129
The light turned green. She tossed her phone onto the passenger seat and hit the gas.
When she arrived at the office, she unsurprisingly hadn’t received a reply.
She didn’t let it bother her and headed straight upstairs.
The moment she stepped out of the elevator, Jane Collins, the receptionist, rushed over looking incredibly distressed. “Ms. Fairchild.”
“What’s wrong?”
“I’m so sorry… I think I made a massive mistake.”
Vivian raised an eyebrow. “It’s awfully early for that. Tell me what happened.”
“A woman came looking for you earlier. I thought she was a relative, so I let her into the waiting area. But after talking to her for a minute… she seems like she’s here to cause
trouble.”
“Relative?”
Vivian glanced toward the glass reception room. “What’s her name?”
“Amara Fairchild.”
“Ah, her…”
Vivian smirked, reaching out to pat the panicked receptionist on the shoulder. “Relax. It’s fine. Bring us some water. Make it piping hot.”
Jane immediately sagged with relief. “Right away.”
It was still early, so the office was mostly empty.
Vivian took her time, dropping her bag off in her office and stopping by the pantry to make herself a coffee before finally strolling into the reception room to face Amara.
It hadn’t been that long since they last saw each other. Looking through the glass, Amara seemed to have lost some weight, but her surgically enhanced curves were as prominent as
ever.
Well, the wonders of modern cosmetic surgery.
After thoroughly enjoying the sight of Amara pacing anxiously, Vivian finally walked in.
“Hi.” She smiled breezily, walking past the woman as if they were old friends catching up.
“It’s been so long, and you’re still kicking.”
Chapter 129
Amara spun around, her face flushing bright red at the immediate insult. Furious, she
snapped, “Vivian, what the hell are you so smug about?!”
“What do I have to be smug about when it comes to you?”
Vivian shrugged casually, gesturing vaguely toward Amara’s chest.
“Should I be smug that I naturally possess what you had to buy? Or should I be smug that you
faked an entire heart condition?”
Amara gasped, a wave of suffocating anger washing over her.
She had always known Vivian had a viciously sharp tongue and thought she was fully prepared for it today, but…
“You’re right, Vivian,” Amara sneered coldly. “You have things I don’t. But so what? What I have… is something you could never get in a million lifetimes!”
“Such as?”
“Such as Jonah’s love.”
