The Stand-In Who Burned the Script novel Chapter 135

Chapter 135

Vivian handed Silas the glass of water without taking a sip.

“Thirsty? Have some water first. I’ll order you a dessert later, okay?”

Was this woman trying to coax him like a toddler?

From Amara’s angle, she couldn’t see who was sitting across from Vivian. She only saw that they were incredibly close. A man?

She had already hooked a new guy, yet she was still obsessing over Jonah!

Amara gritted her teeth. She forced a smile and grabbed Jonah’s hand, trying to pull his attention back. “Jonah… I’m so scared staying at the hotel by myself. Can I move in with you?”

Jonah lowered his gaze to where her hand gripped his.

Logically, he should cater to her every whim.

But for some reason, whenever Vivian was in the room, she completely hijacked his focus.

“I just got back to Northside, and there’s a lot piling up at the company. I’m practically living at the office right now.”

Jonah smoothly slipped his hand free, his tone mild. “I’ve already had someone put a villa under your name. Once it’s furnished, you can move in.”

Amara’s sinking heart plummeted even further.

“Will you stay there with me?”

“Amara, let’s talk about it when the time comes, alright?”

In the past, Jonah never rejected a single request of hers. But now, even his voice carried a trace of impatience.

Amara bit her pale lip, resentment and unwillingness brewing in her eyes. “Is it because of Vivian?”

Jonah frowned, but he didn’t deny it.

“Jonah… you were never like this before.”

Tears spilled down Amara’s cheeks in a practiced display of vulnerability. “You said you were only playing along with her. You said you didn’t have real feelings for her. Besides… doesn’t she already have someone else? Why can’t you let her go?”

Jonah’s frown deepened. He had asked himself the exact same question.

Why couldn’t he let it go now that Vivian was actually with Silas?

Was it possessiveness?

Or just the sting of rejection?

Back when Vivian threw herself at him, he was the one who pushed her away.

“You… you lied to me, didn’t you?” Amara studied the look in his eyes, her anxiety growing. A fragile weakness swept across her palè face.

She pressed a hand over her heart, whispering, “I thought I was special to you. If I knew it would be like this… why did I even bother with the surgery? I should have just died.”

Hearing someone he cared for speak like that struck a chord.

His fingers twitched before he finally reached out and grasped her hand, his voice softening. “Amara, I didn’t lie to you.”
