Chapter 138
The radiant, mocking smile in the woman’s eyes felt like a needle driving straight into Jonah’s vision. A sudden, unsettling realization washed over him-he was losing his grip on
something incredibly important.
“Vivian… don’t do this.”
“Do what exactly?”
Vivian’s smile vanished, leaving a look of utter apathy. “Play the pathetic ex in a love triangle? Jonah, I’ve already handed you two your happily ever after. Stop harassing me.”
She didn’t give him another second of her time. “Excuse me, Dr. Granger. I have things to do this afternoon. I won’t keep you company out here in the sun.”
Jonah watched her retreating figure, his grip on the steering wheel tightening until his knuckles turned white.
Vivian didn’t look back until she reached the elevator.
Seeing he hadn’t followed, she breathed a sigh of relief.
Why was Amara so utterly useless? She practically served the man on a silver platter, and Amara still couldn’t keep him hooked.
The black Mercedes remained parked outside for a long time. Two hours later, when Zoe returned, it was still there.
She took a second look and spotted the gloomy, brooding man sitting in the driver’s seat.
Was that… Dr. Granger?
Startled, Zoe quickly hurried upstairs.
Inside the office, Vivian was still playing Minesweeper, her chin propped gracefully on a pale hand, her posture utterly relaxed.
She looked up lazily. “What did you find out?”
“I got it on video.”
Zoe had already transferred the footage to a tablet and slid it across the desk. “He didn’t want to talk at first, but once I offered him tens of thousands of dollars, he spilled.”
“Someone paid him to… teach you a lesson.”
“A lesson?
A mocking sneer tugged at the corner of Vivian’s mouth. “Their idea of a lesson was making sure I’d have a steel rod in my leg for the rest of my life?”

Chapter 138
Zoe pressed her lips together in silence. No one knew better than her what Vivian had endured over the last three years. If she hadn’t suffered so much, she wouldn’t have been so blindly devoted to Jonah just for a few crumbs of kindness.
Just then, the man’s voice played from the tablet. “Look… I didn’t think I’d hit her that hard! The boss seemed pretty remorseful about it too, but what’s done is done.”
Zoe’s voice echoed in the video. “Who hired you?”
“How the hell should I know!”
Harvey Ward’s face contorted into a cowardly grimace. “The big boss only communicated with me through a burner. I never saw his face… But his assistant helped me process the car title transfers. Said it would make it harder to trace if we bounced it around a few times. But clearly, you guys still found me!”
Smack.
Vivian slammed the tablet face-down on the desk.
She closed her eyes, fighting down the violent surge of emotion in her chest, and said coldly, “Send him to the police. Since he’s so eager to confess, there’s no way we’re letting him
walk.”
