The Stand-In Who Burned the Script novel Chapter 148

Chapter 148

Silas’s chest heaved; he was evidently furious.

“Get back to bed!”

His voice cracked like thunder.

She absolutely refused.

Vivian picked up his hand, gently massaging his fingers as if coaxing a child. “Let’s just sleep together, please? I’m worried about your back sleeping on the couch all the time.”

Her tone was earnest, but her shimmering, liquid eyes looked explicitly designed to bewitch men. Just one glance was enough to leave a person hopelessly captivated and agonizingly

restless.

Eventually, Silas allowed himself to be dragged to the bed, not for any other reason than to finally get some peace and quiet.

If he refused, she would just keep pestering him relentlessly.

Before getting into bed, they laid down three rules: they would sleep on their own sides, no more harassment would be tolerated, and Vivian cheerfully agreed to all of it.

True to her word, the moment she lay down, she curled onto her side, behaving herself right at the edge of the mattress.

Silas closed his eyes. The fire blazing through his body still hadn’t entirely dissipated. He couldn’t quite tell if he was angry or just intensely turned on.

He had lived with impeccable self-control for over twenty years.

He never expected it to be repeatedly shattered by this one woman.

Silas opened his eyes and stared at the ceiling, shadows dancing in his gaze.

The night was far from peaceful. It wasn’t long before the sleeping woman latched onto him, wrapping her arms and legs around him as if he were a giant body pillow.

At first, Silas tried to peel her off. But eventually, driven past the point of endurance, he

simply hooked an arm around her waist, hauled her up slightly, and pinned her firmly against his chest-

She finally settled down.

The night passed.

Vivian woke up first the next morning. The first thing that greeted her was the man’s

half-exposed chest. The familiar scent of his masculine pheromones drifted into her nose, and she took a deep breath, a wicked little smile curling her lips.

Sne had barely nudged his shirt aside when a large hand clamped down firmly on the back of her neck.

The man’s voice was rough with sleep.

“Have you never seen a man before?”

Vivian tilted her head up. The man’s flawlessly sculpted jawline was mere inches away. She pouted. “Why are you awake so early? Go back to sleep.”

Saying that, she ducked her head back down, looking exactly like a hooligan about to

commit a crime.

Silas sucked in a sharp breath, the last remnants of his sleep completely evaporating.

He applied a bit of force and pushed the woman in his arms away.

He ground his teeth. “If you’re awake, get the hell up!”

Vivian let out an offended gasp. “Can’t you be a little more gentle with me?”

She looked thoroughly resentful, but she cooperatively moved aside.

Ignoring her completely, Silas got up and headed straight for the bathroom.

She trailed behind him, barefoot and completely silent. It wasn’t until they were both inside that she suddenly spoke up behind him. “Could you squeeze the toothpaste for me while you’re at it?”

The man’s gaze swept over the mirror. Vivian had already held up her toothbrush right in front of him. “Hurry up, George is calling us down for breakfast,”

Sure enough, a rhythmic knocking echoed from the bedroom door.

Silas paused for two seconds.

Without a word, he squeezed the toothpaste for her.
