Chapter 176
Sterling Enterprises.
The moment Logan Lawson left the executive suite, Simon Young rushed in, panic written all over his face. “Mr. Sterling, it’s bad. Miss Fairchild has been detained by the police.
Silas’s dark eyes narrowed slightly as he settled into his leather chair.
“On what grounds?”
“The Fowler family filed a report claiming premeditated assault.”
“Hah.”
Silas let out a low, ambiguous chuckle. “A grown man gets beaten to a pulp by a woman, and he actually has the nerve to cry to the cops about it?”
“Exactly!”
Simon fumed indignantly.
He wanted to rant further, but a frigid warning glance from his boss shut him up. He quickly cleared his throat. “Miss Fairchild is taking the brunt of the accusations. They’re holding her at the station. Sir… shouldn’t we intervene?”
Silas absentmindedly flipped a platinum lighter between his fingers, his expression unreadable.
“You seem terribly anxious.”
“… I guess I’m moderately concerned?”
Ever since they tied the knot, Simon had subconsciously categorized Vivian as ‘one of their own’. It was a protective instinct.
He hesitantly added, “Boss, aren’t you worried?”
Silas shot him a look but remained completely silent.
Simon tried to decipher his boss’s stoic expression.
No matter how you looked at it, Mr. Sterling couldn’t just abandon his wife. If the media caught wind that she was in custody, it would drag the Sterling family name through the mud and tank their stock prices.
Yet, the man sitting in front of him looked totally unbothered.
Proving Simon’s fears correct, Silas coolly shifted gears. “Bring me tomorrow’s itinerary.”
Simon’s eyes widened in sheer shock before he bowed his head. “Yes, sir.”

At the police precinct, Grace stepped out of the interrogation room. The lead investigator approached her and asked, “Miss Gifford, is there anything else you’d like to know? I’ll do my best to clarify things for you.”
“Can you convict Vivian with the evidence we have?”
“No.”
The officer admitted frankly. “Even if the timeline holds up, the absolute most we could charge her with is excessive self-defense. Proving malicious intent is… virtually impossible.”
‘Impossible’ was an understatement.
It was a legal fantasy.
Grace’s face twisted into an ugly scowl. She dismissed the officer with a wave of her hand. “Get back to work. I’m waiting for someone.”
She took a seat in the stark waiting area, her eyes locked on the precinct’s entrance.
[Silas is going to send a team of lawyers to bail me out. If he doesn’t, I’ll apologize to you in front of him and beg for your forgiveness. How about that?]
Vivian’s smug, absolute certainty made Grace want to scream
She refused to believe it.
Silas despised flashy, chaotic women. And Vivian wasn’t just flashy-she was an opportunistic social climber.
He wasn’t going to show up.
