Chapter 186
Walking out of the hospital, Simon was laughing so hard he could barely stand up straight. He mimicked Harrison in a high-pitched, mocking voice, “My queen, please forgive me! I’ll never do it again~”
“Did you see his face? He looked like a beaten dog. I bet he’ll never dare mess with Miss Fairchild again!”
“Not necessarily.”
“Huh?”
Vivian’s voice was very soft. Simon didn’t quite catch it and asked, “What was that, Miss
Fairchild?”
“I meant that Harrison might not be too scared to cross me. He might even try to retaliate.”
A distinct flash of sly mischief crossed the woman’s eyes as she leaned her body sideways.
She rested her chin perfectly on the man’s broad shoulder.
“So, Mr. Sterling is going to have to protect me.”
“Tch.”
Silas didn’t even turn his head. He simply raised a finger, poked her in the forehead, and shoved her away. “Do you not have any bones in your body?” he asked coldly.

Scolding her again.
Vivian pouted, but she couldn’t stop the corners of her lips from curling upward.
He hadn’t denied her request. That was massive progress.
Simon watched the bizarre dynamic between the couple, feeling like his IQ was taking a nosedive. Why did their relationship seem terrible yet oddly affectionate at the same time?
Was this some new form of flirting?
He scratched the back of his head, feeling a sudden desperate need to get a girlfriend.
The hospital trip had wrapped up by nine o’clock, right at the start of standard business hours. Simon naturally dropped Vivian off at Astra Media before heading back to Sterling Enterprises.
The car rolled to a smooth stop.
Vivian turned to the man sitting beside her.

Fie had kept his eyes closed since they got into the car. She knew he wasn’t sleeping-he was just refusing to engage in conversation.
But…
Two seconds later, she leaned over and planted a kiss on his cheek.
“Thanks for today, Mr. Sterling. That’s your reward.”

The man snapped his eyes open, a dangerous, magnetic intensity flashing in his gaze was impossible to ignore. He gritted his teeth. “Vivian, if you dare casually touch me again, will throw you right back where you came from!”
“I didn’t move!”
She really hadn’t.
Vivian shot a glance at Simon, who was pretending to be deaf and blind in the front seat. She covertly scratched her fingernails against Silas’s palm and whispered, “As for the kiss, I think you actually liked it.”
Before the man could say another word, she pushed the car door open. “Alright, I’m off to work. See you at home tonight.”
Slam.
The door shut.
The woman strode off without a single backward glance, entirely devoid of any lingering attachment.
“Mr. Sterling…” Seeing his boss staring out the window, Simon tentatively asked, “Should we… wait here a bit longer? Or head to the office?”
Silas pulled his gaze back, his tone completely unreadable.
“You seem quite fond of her.”
Simon’s grip on the steering wheel slipped. “No way! Boss, please don’t say that… I wouldn’t dare look at her even if I had a death wish. I mean-”
The piercing glare from the backseat was terrifying.
“Mr. Sterling, I don’t even have the thought, I swear!”
