Chapter 185
“Call it even.”
The man chewed on the words slowly. “What do you think?”
He directed the question at Vivian.
She was casually playing with the cufflink on his sleeve and hadn’t expected to be called on.
She let out a small “Ah” before putting on a serious face. “How can we call it even?”
Richard’s expression darkened further, but he stayed silent.
“Chairman Fowler, you’ve lived a long life. Surely you know how important a woman’s reputation is?”
Vivian’s voice wasn’t loud, but every word rang crystal clear in the room. “Not to mention the damage your son caused goes way beyond that. Thanks to his repulsive behavior, I’m
traumatized by men now. Oh, and…”
“I’ve suffered immense emotional damage. I can’t even sleep through the night without waking up from terrible nightmares, right, Silas?”
Silas glanced at her sideways.
He was met with wide, utterly sincere eyes.
She looked so innocent, like a pathetic, helpless victim.
Richard wasn’t an idiot; he knew she was lying through her teeth. Under any other circumstances, he would have shut her down, but Silas was clearly backing her up.
He gritted his teeth, his voice laced with ice.
“Then what does Miss Fairchild want?”
“What do I want…”
Vivian repeated softly, looking up at the man standing tall beside her. She blinked. “Can I say {it?”
She wasn’t asking for permission. She was testing his limits.
Are you going to back me up?
Because if he was…
She was going to unleash hell.
Finding her audacity genuinely amusing, Silas deciphered the look in her eyes and actually smiled-a full, relaxed smile that softened his sharp features.

Chapter 185
It was the first time Vivian had ever seen him smile so genuinely. Unlike his usual icy demeanor, it was like a shooting star tearing through the night sky, a quiet firework bursting into color, or a brilliant field of blooming flowers.
She was momentarily blinded by it, her dormant heart giving a violent lurch.
She tore her gaze away just as his voice rumbled above her.
“You can.”
Vivian’s breathing quickly steadied as she spoke calmly. “I’ve already apologized, so throwing around more ‘sorrys’ is pointless. Besides, me defending myself was a reaction. Him trying to assault me was unprovoked.”
“If you want to call it even, he can get down on his hands and knees and beg for my forgiveness.”

Silence.
The air in the room grew suffocatingly still.
Other than Silas, everyone else wondered if they were hallucinating.
Harrison had been mesmerized by her beauty just moments ago, still harboring dirty thoughts. But in a split second, all the lust vanished from his eyes.
“Are you out of your damn mind?”
Make him grovel?
