The Stand-In Who Burned the Script novel Chapter 227

Chapter 227

The woman clinging to its back had her black dress whipping furiously in the wind, her thick raven hair streaming through the air. Backlit by the sun, her features were obscured, but the sharp, breathtaking silhouette of her profile was nothing short of a masterpiece.

A moment later, the horse’s front hooves crashed firmly back onto the dirt.

The entire racecourse was dead silent, the crowd completely mesmerized by the spectacular display.

Not far away, a man stood with one hand tucked casually into his tailored slacks. His tall, broad-shouldered frame was perfectly still, his piercing eyes locked onto the field. His expression gave absolutely nothing away.

Simon couldn’t hold back his awe. “Mr. Sterling, Miss Fairchild’s riding skills are absolutely incredible!”

“You worship her now?”

“I mean, yeah! I don’t even know how to ride a horse.”

“If you’re so infatuated, why don’t you beg her to be your teacher?”

Simon rubbed his nose, watching his wildly unpredictable boss storm off.

He grumbled under his breath, “I can’t praise her, I can’t even talk about her… Why is he acting like it’s his time of the month?”

No one paid him any mind. The crowd was already swarming Vivian, utterly captivated by her beauty and even more astounded that a woman possessed such fearless, elite

horsemanship.

Charlie rushed over in a panic, letting out a massive sigh of relief when he saw she was

unhurt.

“I am so incredibly sorry. Audrey and I got caught up talking about some personal matters.”

“It’s fine.”

Vivian gracefully slid off the horse, glancing down at her dust-covered dress with an amused smile. “It’s a shame about the dress, though. This was the first time I wore it.”

“I’ll buy you a new one.”

Charlie smiled warmly. “But honestly, Vivian, I never expected you to be such a badass.”

“Keep the compliments to a minimum, or you might end up falling in love with me.”

Chapter 227

Vivian handed the reins to a nearby stable master, her expression turning dead serious

“Was this horse spooked by something? It felt like it was deliberately charging in this direction. You better launch a full investigation.”

The people attending this event were all untouchable VIPS. If anyone had gotten trampled, it would have been an unmitigated disaster.

The stable master nodded frantically, apologizing as he led the sweating animal away.

Charlie was still entirely focused on her ruined dress.

“Should we get you changed into that new riding suit?”

Her luggage was back at the hotel, so it was too late to change into anything else.

Vivian shook her head. “Forget it. I don’t plan on riding for the rest of the day, and putting that suit on now would just draw more attention. Go do what you need to do, I’ll find a place to sit.”

Charlie didn’t push the issue. “Alright. Call me the second you need anything.”

“I will.”

As soon as he left, Vivian headed toward the private lounges.

She took two corners and continued down the plush hallway.

She stopped in front of one of the suites and leaned against the wall.

Surviving that kind of adrenaline-fueled chaos without a racing heart was impossible. She took two deep breaths to compose herself before turning and knocking on the door.

No answer.

She pushed it open.

The man was sitting on the leather sofa directly across from the door, his legs spread naturally. He looked effortlessly relaxed, yet he radiated an overwhelming, intoxicating masculine energy. It was utterly magnetic.

Vivian licked her lips, walked over, and sat down right next to him.
