The Stand-In Who Burned the Script novel Chapter 226

Chapter 226

The club slowly filled with an endless stream of guests. Whether familiar or new, every face in the crowd belonged to the upper echelons of high society.

Charlie was quickly dragged away by Audrey.

Vivian aimlessly wandered around the grounds.

“Did you hear? Apparently, someone from the Sterling family in Northside is showing up today.”

“Oh, the Sterlings? You mean the blind guy?”

“Exactly.” The woman pretended to cover her mouth, though her hushed gossip easily leaked through her fingers. “I heard Mr. Sterling and Miss Huxley grew up together. They absolutely despise each other. They’ve been at each other’s throats since they were kids.”

“What’s the point of fighting now? That Sterling guy is blind as a bat. If he’s ugly on top of that, isn’t he just showing up to humiliate himself?”

Vivian leaned casually against the wall, swirling a glass of champagne in her hand as she happily eavesdropped on the drama.

One of the women suddenly turned and spotted her.

Her breathtaking elegance, paired with her stunning curves, made it impossible to look away.

“Oh my, and what prominent family do you belong to?”

Wherever there were women, there was bound to be drama. A group of bored rich socialites clumped together was nothing short of a three-ring circus,

As soon as the question was asked, all eyes locked onto Vivian. They crowded around, openly scrutinizing her. “Are you here for the race too? How come we’ve never seen you before?”

Vivian offered a polite nod. “Hello. My name is Vivian Fairchild.”

She was a vision of poised, untouchable grace.

Two of the older women exchanged a sharp glance, calculating sparks flying between them.

“Which Fairchild family? A pretty thing like you… are you engaged yet?”

No one at this event was an ordinary civilian. If she was unattached, they could potentially arrange an incredibly lucrative marriage.

Vivian’s lips curved into a sweet smile. “You ladies are absolutely glowing yourselves, but yes, I am engaged.”

..Engaged, huh.”

Hearing that, the women instantly lost all interest.

The gossip immediately pivoted back to Silas.

Vivian took a sip of her champagne, remembering how, at the very beginning, even she thought Silas was a hideous monster.

She wondered how these women would react when they actually laid eyes on him.

Not long after, the crowd began migrating outside.

Many guests had already changed into their riding gear and headed toward the track.

Upon arrival, the attendees had picked out their horses, which the stable hands had then led to their designated spots. Since Vivian hadn’t chosen one, she didn’t bother changing into her new outfit.

Although she was an excellent rider, she had no intention of showing off unless absolutely

necessary.

The weather was gorgeous, but the turf on the racecourse had already been heavily trampled. Every gust of wind sent a cloud of dust and sand into the air, causing the pampered heirs and heiresses to complain endlessly.

Vivian scanned the crowd but couldn’t spot Charlie or Silas.

Wasn’t he supposed to be here?

With a soft frown, she set her glass down.

Just as she turned to leave, a wave of chaotic screaming erupted in the distance. The crowd scattered in a panic as a furious white stallion charged directly toward them, neighing wildly.

The women around her shrieked in absolute terror, and even Vivian felt her heart skip a beat.

She stared wide-eyed, the reflection of the charging beast growing larger in her pupils.
