Chapter 244
Grace gasped in shock and scoffed, “Vivian, are you out of your mind? Thirty billion dollars? For that tiny company of yours? Even if the building was made of solid gold, it wouldn’t be worth that much!”
Vivian crossed her arms lazily and leaned back in her chair, looking at her without a trace of emotion.
“If I say it’s worth it, it’s worth it.”
“If Miss Gifford keeps being so picky, I might just have to raise the price.”
“You…!”
Grace’s breathing hitched. She shot a desperate glance at the man beside Vivian, expecting him to say a few words in her defense. But he didn’t. From start to finish, he looked entirely detached, clearly having no intention of interfering.
Geoffrey was equally irritated, but as a seasoned businessman, he was much better at hiding it than his daughter.
“Miss Fairchild, you can’t just throw out ridiculous numbers.”
His voice deepened. “I promised to offer double the market price, but the market price… is nowhere near fifteen billion dollars.”
That was billion.
From Geoffrey’s perspective, even millions were too generous.
“The market price is the market price. I’m stating my price.”
Vivian’s eyes were crystal clear, completely devoid of the coquettishness she had shown earlier. “If a big shot like Chairman Gifford wants to buy my small company, wouldn’t a low offer insult your status? I’ve named my price. The rest is up to your company to decide whether to proceed with the
acquisition or give up.”
If he wanted to proceed, they would be negotiating starting from a base of thirty billion dollars.
If he gave up, it just proved the Gifford family wasn’t all that impressive.
Geoffrey’s expression twisted into a brilliant array of colors. He took two rapid sips of tea before looking at the man who had been completely silent.
“Silas, what do you say?”
“He can speak for himself from his seat.”
Vivian interjected smoothly, not realizing she had just made a dry pun. “I am me, and he is him. You don’t need to ask for his opinion, Chairman Gifford.”
The atmosphere in the room instantly grew awkward. Silas, clearly, had no intention of speaking either. His long fingers tapped rhythmically against the edge of the table, his fingertips seemingly still retaining the woman’s warmth.
“Mr. Gifford, as you can see, this is Vivian’s company. It’s only right that she makes the decisions herself.”

Chapter 244
His dark eyes were unfathomably deep.
He let out a sigh, as if he were deeply regretful.
“If you absolutely need my input, you’ll have to wait until it becomes joint marital property. For today, I can only apologize.”
Bringing Vivian here today was already doing them a favor.
Demanding anything more from him was overstepping.
Geoffrey suppressed the displeasure in his eyes and forced a smile. “There’s no rush for this anyway. We can take our time and discuss it later. Let’s focus on eating today. The meal is what matters.”
Grace’s face turned completely pale. She hadn’t expected Silas to actually bring up marriage.
Was he planning on staying with this woman forever?
Marriage… joint marital property.
