Chapter 243
A sharp glint flashed through Geoffrey’s eyes as he laughed. “Right, right, business first. I’ve also had the kitchen prepare some dishes. Since you’re finally here, you must try the new menu.”
Vivian couldn’t be bothered to listen to their performance. She lowered her head and started playing with the man’s fingers under the table.
His hands were large, the knuckles distinctly defined.
Every single finger was perfectly long and slender.
His skin was flawless, his nails a healthy pink with white crescents at the base. Paired with the prominent veins on the back of his hand, it gave off an inexplicably sensual, dominating vibe.
Vivian slid her fingers through his, pulled them back slightly, and then firmly locked their hands together.
“What do you say, Miss Fairchild?”
The private room fell silent for a brief moment. Vivian looked up, her gaze first meeting Grace’s furious eyes.
Shifting her gaze slightly, she saw that Geoffrey’s expression had darkened as well.
He naturally couldn’t see what was happening under the table, but as an elder, being completely ignored while speaking to a junior-a junior he already disliked-was infuriating.
Vivian offered a lazy smile. “I’m sorry, I didn’t quite catch that. Could you repeat yourself?”
A faint smile brushed across Silas’s lips before he spoke in a neutral tone, “Chairman Gifford wishes to acquire your company and wants to know your opinion.”
Vivian’s hand stalled.
She turned her head to look at the man beside her.
So today, he had specifically acted as a middleman for Geoffrey to buy her company?
Vivian released his hand and casually pulled a tissue from the table. Her burgundy nails made her fingertips look radiantly white.
“My business is just a small venture. Why would someone with a massive empire like Chairman Gifford be interested in my little company? You must be joking.”
“Why would I joke with you, Miss Fairchild?”
Geoffrey took a sip of tea. He looked warm, but the depths of his eyes were shrewd and calculating.
“Truth be told, I’m doing this out of respect for Silas. For a young woman like you to brave Northside on your own, constantly showing your face in public… it’s not ideal. You’d be better off selling it to me. I can offer you double the market price.”

“Is that so?”
Vivian tossed the tissue aside casually. “Chairman Gifford sure is generous.”
Grace suddenly chimed in. “My dad is doing this entirely as a favor to Silas. Otherwise, do you really think anyone would want to buy that pathetic company of yours?”
“Grace.”
Geoffrey called out her name, though there was no real reprimand in his tone.
“Miss Gifford isn’t married yet, so she still has a long road ahead of her. I understand your industry-the rise and fall can happen in an instant. For a girl, stability is much better.”
Vivian nodded solemnly. “Chairman Gifford makes a fair point.”
