Chapter 248
The moment the words left her mouth, the man suddenly parted his lips. Vivian instantly flinched, pulling her hand back in alarm.
Sure enough, she could practically hear the sharp click of his teeth snapping shut.
Her eyes widened in disbelief. “Were you going to bite me?”
“That’s not all I’d do.”
Silas shifted his body slightly, lying flat on his back. From Vivian’s angle, she could only see his superior side profile. “Keep talking nonsense, and I’ll properly deal with you.”
One second, two seconds.
After a moment of silence, she burrowed against his side like a cat finding a comfortable spot. She let out a soft, vindictive hum. “Sooner or later, I’ll make you beg me. *Vivian, I’m begging you, please
give it to me.*”
She mimicked him flawlessly.
Silas didn’t say a word, nor did he pay her any more attention.
Not long after, the person in his arms fell into a steady, rhythmic breathing pattern.
He lowered his eyes slightly. The woman’s face was completely obscured by her hair, revealing only glimpses of her smooth, porcelain skin.
A sudden, inappropriate thought crossed his mind-
When she was with that other man for three whole years, did she act like this too? Begging for hugs, acting coquettish and cute?
Considering how notoriously public their fallout had been, she must have loved him deeply, perhaps even more than she showed now. Yet, for some reason, they had never taken that final step.
And that man had given her up for her sister?
Silas’s eyes were dark and profound as he raised a hand to tuck a stray strand of hair behind her ear.
The gesture couldn’t be called gentle, but it carried an incomprehensible, brooding intensity.
Morning came, and Vivian’s biological clock woke her up.
The space beside her was empty.
She highly suspected the man had sneaked out the moment she fell asleep.
But it didn’t really matter. The fact that he was still willing to maintain this superficial harmony meant their relationship could still be salvaged.
She freshened up and headed downstairs.

Chapter 248
Martha Gable was humming a tune in the kitchen, preparing breakfast.
“Miss, Mr. Sterling left early this morning. He seemed to have an urgent matter,” Martha offered proactively when she saw her.
She merely hummed in acknowledgment.
Keeping her eyes on her phone, she walked into the dining room.
After breakfast, she headed to the company. The collaboration with Insignia Group had officially launched, and the entire staff was already buried in work. Zoe Hunt brought over a stack of documents requiring signatures, flipping directly to the correct pages and handing the pen over.
Vivian kept her head down, signing the papers with a calm expression.
“Did the people from Bayport contact you?”
Zoe suddenly stiffened, losing all of her usual sharp efficiency. “Miss… Mr. Vaughan did call me once, but… but I swear I didn’t say anything! Really!”
“Why are you so nervous?” Vivian glanced up at her, a faint smile in her eyes. “The Vaughan family are the ones who actually sponsored your education, so it’s completely normal for you to stay in touch with them. I just heard that Vincent is coming to Northside, so I figured I’d ask.”
