Chapter 250
Vivian turned at the sound. In the dim lighting, the man’s features were cold and sharp, his tall and upright posture making him look like a rugged drill instructor straight out of a war movie.
“Liam?”
She was slightly taken aback. “What a coincidence.”
“You two know each other?” The older woman’s eyes flashed with sly amusement. “This isn’t just a coincidence, it’s destiny. Liam, you never introduce your friends to us. I had no idea you had such a beautiful girlfriend.”
“Mom…”
Liam sighed helplessly. “She’s not-”
“So you’re Mrs. Ziegler.”
Vivian smiled politely, smoothly cutting off the man’s explanation. “I always wondered why Liam carried himself with such presence. It’s because he has such a beautiful mother.”
With just a few words, she had Helena beaming with joy.
Liam’s deep gaze landed on the woman-partly probing, partly burning with heat.
With such a conversationalist present, his role as an escort was vastly diminished. He simply stood by quietly, listening as his mother thoroughly dug into the woman’s background.
Helena wasn’t someone who cared about social status. She had never heard of the Fairchild family, but the moment she learned Vivian’s mother had passed away, her heart ached for her.
“Oh, you poor dear… You must have suffered a lot, surviving in Northside all by yourself, right? My cooking is excellent. Whenever you have free time, have Liam bring you home. I’ll make you something delicious.”
Vivian happily agreed. “I will definitely visit, Mrs. Ziegler.”
“Good, good, good…”
Helena’s eyes darted between the two of them, and she chuckled. “I’ll head back first. Since you young folks ran into each other, go ahead and chat. Don’t worry about me.”
“Mom…”
“What?”
The moment her son opened his mouth, she knew exactly what he was going to say. Feigning a strict tone, she scolded, “Vivian is just a young girl, aren’t you going to walk her? With that dense, straightforward head of yours, when are you ever going to bring a daughter-in-law home for me?”
The last sentence was whispered, but Vivian still heard it clearly.
Helena turned back and grabbed Vivian’s hand once more.
“I’m not just being polite, dear. Come over for dinner whenever you have time. You’re always

welcome.”
Vivian promised her repeatedly.
After saying their goodbyes, the two stood in place, watching the older woman walk away.
There were two siblings in the Ziegler family. His older sister, Meredith Ziegler, was already married and twelve years his senior.
Because Liam was born so late in his parents’ lives, the family’s biggest concern right now was his
marriage.
“Your mother is lovely.”
Vivian’s eyes sparkled, a hint of envy flashing through them.
“If you think she’s so lovely, why not become her daughter-in-law?”
She turned her head.
Liam sported a clean buzz cut, his sharp sideburns perfectly framing his face. The naked, burning desire in his eyes was completely unapologetic.
Vivian pinched her fingers slightly and laughed softly. “That’s a foul.”
“How is it a foul?”
