The Stand-In Who Burned the Script novel Chapter 277

Chapter 277

“Mr. Sterling, Miss Fairchild appears to have a viral infection. It’s highly contagious, with the primary symptom being recurrent high fevers. According to standard protocol… she needs to be placed in medical isolation.”

But given Silas’s elite status-his company even held shares in this hospital-and the fact that VIP rooms were essentially self-contained suites…

Dr. Madden was stuck in a difficult position.

Silas’s expression darkened. “Is there a targeted treatment plan?”

“Yes. The first case popped up in a neighboring city last month. The pathogen is primarily transmitted through mosquito bites.”

Dr. Madden offered his earnest advice, “Also, Mr. Sterling, it would be best if you didn’t remain at the hospital. We will assign a dedicated nursing team to care for Miss Fairchild.”

For a long while, this virus had been nothing more than idle gossip among the public. The neighboring city had controlled it quickly, but there had still been one fatality.

The man remained silent. After a heavy pause, he turned and headed back to the VIP room.

Dr. Madden breathed a sigh of relief and quickly hurried around his desk to sit down.

The first case in Northside. They had to take this seriously and immediately schedule a full hospital

sanitization.

When Silas returned to the room, Vivian was playing Candy Crush on her phone, looking profoundly

bored.

Sensing someone enter, she glanced up.

“Can’t I just be observed at home? It’s so boring here. I feel like a useless vegetable.”

“Aren’t you?”

“…” Insulting her again.

Silas poured a glass of water, walked over, and shoved it in front of her. “Drink.”

Vivian took the glass, her bizarre gaze lingering on his face for a moment before she obediently took a sip.

“Starting today, you’re drinking eight glasses of water daily.”

Vivian stared at the 16-ounce cup. “Eight glasses?”

She slammed the cup down onto the nightstand. “I’m not a camel! Why do I have to drink that much?”

Her pale face had finally gained a little color from her irritation, but she had a point. Eight glasses meant nearly a gallon. She wouldn’t have time to do anything but use the bathroom.

Silas didn’t get angry. He leisurely pulled a chair over, sat down, and started tapping on his phone.

“Hello?”

Vivian bit her lip. “I’m talking to you.”

‘Yeah’

He didn’t look up, his voice calm and steady. “But I was giving you an order, not asking for your

opinion.

“…” Sure, you had to drink water when you were sick, but treating it like a corporate quota was just

inhumane.

Vivian wrapped herself tighter in her blanket, glaring at him with supreme resentment.

A short while later, there was a knock at the door.

Medical staff in full hazmat suits entered to sanitize the room, acting as if the place was contaminated with toxic waste.

Vivian covered her nose and asked, “What’s going on?”

“We…

The nurse started to speak, but upon noticing the sharp, warning glare from the man sitting nearby. she forced a smile. “Don’t worry, Miss Fairchild. It’s just routine sanitization. We have to do the entire hospital.

Routine sanitization?

Vivian didn’t think much of it, simply saying, “Well, when you’re done, could you please open the

window?”

The conversation ended there, but seeing the hesitant look in the nurse’s eyes as she left, Vivian felt that something was off.

‘Silas.

The man looked up.
