The Stand-In Who Burned the Script novel Chapter 282

Chapter 282

Vincent’s brow twitched slightly as he looked up at the man across from him.

That look…

Jonah frowned imperceptibly. “Is something the matter?”

“No.”

Vincent put his phone away, a warm smile spreading across his face.

“I had long heard that the young Mr. Granger was an accomplished man, and seeing you today, you certainly live up to the rumors. But there’s no need to play host. You should know the rules of our line

of work.”

He hadn’t outright refused earlier, but after checking one message, his attitude had completely

shifted.

That meant…

Was that message about him?

Jonah’s gaze darkened slightly, but he kept his smile. “I won’t trouble you then. We’ll have other opportunities in the future.”

Vincent nodded gracefully and turned to leave.

His entourage moved with an imposing presence, fitting for diplomats who navigated high-stakes circles.

Jonah watched his retreating back, rubbing his fingers together thoughtfully.

He knew Vincent and Vivian had some sort of connection.

After Vivian’s car crash three years ago, Vincent’s secretary had shown up, but Vivian had quickly dismissed her with a few words.

The excuse she gave was that he was just a distant relative.

The only reason Jonah hadn’t overthought it was because Vivian was in a terrible position at the

time.

If she truly had powerful relatives, why didn’t they help her out of her mess?

Looking at it now, things weren’t that simple.

He let out a heavy breath, his eyes as dark as ink.

Vivian, just how many secrets are you hiding?

Just like the past two days, Vivian had to provide various samples before breakfast. The nurses who came in were in full protective gear, a stark contrast to the relaxed man sitting nearby.

She was very cooperative, though her large eyes would occasionally dart over to steal a glance at

him.

The moment the nurses left, her true colors showed.

“Silas, come here.”

The man looked up at her and asked, “Are you going to eat or not?”

“I am.”

“Then keep your mouth shut. Bother me one more time, and you’ll be eating nothing today.”

“…Silas, you’re heartless.”

Bullying a patient, how manly of him.

Vivian didn’t actually have much energy. She was just incredibly bored stuck in this hospital room, and aside from teasing Silas, there was nothing else to do.

She glared at him in frustration. “I don’t want oatmeal today. I want meat. Give me spicy barbecue ribs or a Cajun seafood boil. I want something spicy, and I want seafood.”

She certainly knew how to dream.

Silas let out a soft scoff, picking up his phone to instruct Simon Young to deliver food.

Hospital meals were notoriously bland, which was absolute torture for someone used to rich, flavorful food.

But a sick person had to eat like a sick person. There was no way she could eat the way she normally

did.

When Simon’s delivery arrived, Vivian’s eyes widened.

There was only shrimp, and a tiny plate of it at that.

Nothing else.

“Where’s my food?”
