The Stand-In Who Burned the Script novel Chapter 289

Chapter 289

He had intentionally lured him here, and now he wanted to chase him away?

No matter what, Vivian wasn’t going to make that call. “I’m not doing it.”

Marcus shot her a sideways glare. His icy gaze pinned her in place, as if attempting to slice her to ribbons with his eyes alone.

He sneered, forcefully grabbing Vivian’s hand to unlock the phone.

He opened the contacts app but couldn’t find Silas’s number.

Vivian hadn’t saved his name.

“Do you think I can’t track down his number?”

“But since you’re so opposed to me calling him, I’ll let it go. Who asked you to be my dear sister?”

Vivian desperately wanted to rip that hypocritical smirk right off his face, but she didn’t dare make a move. Marcus wouldn’t hesitate to hit her; he was not a gentle man.

The driver pushed the speed higher and higher. On a crowded elevated highway, the only way to shake a tail was to weave erratically between lanes.

The Porsche Cayenne closed the gap rapidly, inching closer and closer.

The person behind the wheel was undeniably Silas.

For some inexplicable reason, the corners of Vivian’s mouth pulled into a faint smile. She actually felt a strange sense of… pride.

But that expression deeply irritated Marcus. His dark, furious gaze snapped toward the driver. “If you can’t even shake off a cripple, you can pack your bags and leave!”

The driver trembled in fear and slammed on the gas.

Vivian felt like the van was practically flying. She grabbed the handrail with a death grip.

Even though it wasn’t rush hour, Northside’s roads were always congested, especially the highways near the city center. Drag racing up here was practically a suicide mission.

Panic finally set in. She accidentally glanced backward, only to see the brown Cayenne right on their tail.

It was moving at a terrifying speed.

Through the blinding glare of the glass.

Amidst the chaotic blur of the world rushing by, Vivian’s mind went completely blank. All she could see was that breathtakingly handsome face appearing right before her eyes-so incredibly real, and so profoundly shocking.

Something slammed violently into her chest, catching her entirely off guard.

Chapter 289

Vivian violently snapped back to reality and screamed out the window, “Silas, stop following us!”

The very next second.

Bang!

The two vehicles collided heavily, yet neither slowed down. It was as if they were determined to battle this out to the bitter end.

“Marcus, are you insane?!” Vivian grabbed his suit jacket and forcefully yanked him toward her. “Listen to me! If anything happens to him today, you will never find out where Darcy is!”

Her eyes blazed with a fierce, reckless intensity, like a cornered wolf.

Marcus’s expression didn’t change in the slightest. Even with his expensive jacket bunched up in her fists, he remained the picture of arrogant superiority.

His narrowed eyes flashed dangerously. “I knew you were hiding something.”

Vivian swallowed hard and kept her mouth shut.
