The Stand-In Who Burned the Script novel Chapter 290

Chapter 290

Before Vivian could even figure out how to respond, Marcus released her chin. He looked up at the driver in the front seat. “Pull over.”

The driver was drenched in cold sweat but let out a massive sigh of relief.

He finally didn’t have to risk his life in a highway deathmatch.

But this was still a packed elevated highway, and they were right at a curve-making it even more dangerous than a standard freeway.

A barrage of deafening car horns blared around them, but Marcus ignored them completely. He stepped out of the van first.

He grabbed Vivian by the wrist and practically dragged her out of the vehicle.

At that exact moment, the man in the Cayenne stepped out as well.

Silas’s eyes were terrifyingly dark. He walked straight over and stated coldly, “Let her go.”

They were three simple words, but they carried an undeniable, earth-shattering authority. It was an absolute command, not a negotiation.

Marcus ran his tongue over his back teeth, his expression devoid of warmth. “It seems Mr. Sterling is unaware. She is a member of the Vaughan family.”

Silas kept his unwavering gaze locked on the two of them. The woman was wearing a black dress that perfectly hugged her stunning curves. Cars zoomed past her back-to-back, the rushing wind sending the hem of her skirt whipping through the air.

She looked somewhat disheveled.

She kept her head down, lost in her own thoughts.

His gaze shifted back to the man, whose aura was sharp as a blade, like a merciless general standing on a battlefield.

Marcus Vaughan-

Of course, he knew who this man was.

A notorious figure in Bayport, known for his cutthroat tactics and leaving no loose ends.

In that very moment, Silas confirmed that Vivian had deep ties to the Vaughan family.

He rubbed his fingers together, his calm voice lacing with a lethal, visceral warning. “Whether she’s a Vaughan or not is none of my concern. But let me make one thing clear: if you touch her, I will end you.”

As his words fell, a heavy silence settled over the air.

Marcus looked down at the woman in his grasp. She still had her head lowered, all her emotions perfectly hidden away.

Chapter 290

“Mr. Sterling, you seem awfully confident.”

“No.”

Silas’s mere presence was overwhelming. Like a born king, his restrained demeanor could not mask his blazing, razor-sharp edge. “It’s not confidence. It’s an absolute certainty. Has Mr. Vaughan forgotten where he is?”

Northside.

This was the Sterling family’s turf.

It didn’t matter how much power Marcus wielded in Bayport. An emperor’s reach was limited when he

was far from his throne. He couldn’t stretch his hand this far.

The smile on Marcus’s face slowly twisted into something sinister as he coldly curled his lips.

“Mr. Sterling certainly has nerve. No wonder my sister refused to call you just now. She must have been terrified of what I would do to you… Tsk. You were doing perfectly fine as a blind man. How did you suddenly regain your sight?”

His tone made it painfully clear that he found Silas’s recovery highly regrettable.

He lowered his eyes. “Well, a wise man knows when to retreat. But make no mistake, I will be back.”

He let go, pushing Vivian straight into Silas’s arms.
