The Stand-In Who Burned the Script novel Chapter 301

Chapter 301

“Why aren’t you asleep?”

“Waiting for you.”

As soon as Silas sat down, Vivian leaned against him. “Where did you go this afternoon? You’re back so late.”

“Work.” There was a problem with the Northside project, and it probably wouldn’t proceed smoothly.

Silas thought of something, his gaze turning somber.

Vivian didn’t push the topic. She propped her feet on the coffee table. “Put my medicine on.”

Silas didn’t respond.

He glanced at her from the corner of his eye, saying nothing.

But his expression said it all: *Are you ordering me around?*

Vivian lifted her chin. “You leaving me alone at the hospital today was bad enough. Besides, I got this injury because you didn’t protect me. It’s just applying some ointment. Hurry up.”

“Are you extorting me?”

“Yep.”

He stared at her. *Yep?*

Silas pressed his lips together. After a moment, he picked up the cotton swabs and antiseptic from the table.

Whether intentional or not, he pressed the swab a bit too hard against her skin. She immediately clung to his arm and buried her face in his chest, looking utterly pitiful.

“It hurts! Can you be gentle?”

Silas glanced down at her and continued.

By the time he finished, the woman in his arms had tears in her eyes. Anyone else would think she had just survived a torture session.

“That’s enough,” Silas said, not really angry. He pushed her back gently, but she just leaned right back against him. He decided to let it go.

“The scab is already thick, how could it still hurt? This is just antiseptic, not alcohol.”

Vivian let out a soft “Oh.”

*So what?*

“You still shouldn’t use my medicine as an excuse to bully me.”

Just then, Silas’s phone rang. As he pulled it out, the name “Grace” flashed clearly on the

Screen.

Before he could decide whether to answer, the woman beside him snatched the phone, hit accept, and held it to his ear.

Silas frowned slightly, shooting her a warning look.

“Silas!”

Grace’s tone was sharp. “You’re with Vivian, aren’t you? Do you have any idea what she did?”

The room was quiet enough that even without the speakerphone, Grace’s words were perfectly audible to Vivian.

Holding the phone with one hand, she reached over to grab the fruit bowl, pulling it into her lap. She popped a blueberry into her mouth, then picked up another and fed it to the man beside her.

Silas was forced to accept the blueberry. His gaze deepened. “What did she do?”

“I just signed a contract with Insignia Group, but before we even started shooting the commercial, they notified me they’re terminating the deal. Do you know what this means? If word gets out, my future fashion deals are ruined!”

True to her privileged upbringing, she spoke with an entitled, demanding tone.

Vivian twitched her lips, nearly rolling her eyes into the back of her head.

She continued eating blueberries.

Silas took in her little gestures and spoke in a low voice. “So, what is the purpose of telling me this, Grace?”
