Chapter 306
That sounded like a blatant provocation. Sloan took a sip of his drink, chuckling at the show.
These two were definitely up to something interesting.
He crossed his legs, perfectly content to be a casual bystander.
No one spoke. The atmosphere in the dining room inexplicably grew colder, and the air felt suffocatingly thin.
Liam offered a gentle smile and continued, “Are you curious about when I got so close to
her?”
“Do you think I’m curious?”
Silas’s expression revealed nothing as he ran his tongue over his teeth.
“She’s always been compassionate. She can’t even stand to see stray dogs and cats on the street. Knowing you were sick and had no food, ordering takeout for you was no big deal.”
So what if she bought him dinner?
It was just a few taps on a screen.
Liam chuckled. “But I doubt her feelings for me are just simple compassion.”
His words seemed to accelerate the tension in the air. The already taut string felt like it was going to snap at any second.
Silas narrowed his eyes slightly, his long fingers casually resting on the table.
He tapped his finger once-a quiet but deeply threatening warning.
“Then tell me, how complicated is it?”
Liam fell silent.
Sensing the dangerous turn, Sloan cleared his throat. “Alright, that’s enough. Are you two really going to fight over this?”
Liam rubbed his fingers together and said nonchalantly, “It’s not that complicated. I just bumped into Vivian while shopping with my mom last time, and my mom really liked her.”
It sounded like a joke, but also like a declaration.
It was rare for his mother to like a girl so much, implying that he might pursue her just for his mother’s sake.
Silas’s lips twitched, his expression unreadable.
His voice was frigid. “How dutiful of you.”

With that, he stood up.
His downward gaze was icy. “Since you like it so much, finish every bite. Don’t waste food. And next time, if your hands aren’t broken, order it yourself.”
He pushed his chair back and walked out.
The remaining two watched him leave.
Sloan clicked his tongue and turned his gaze back to Liam. “What the hell? Are you really planning to steal your buddy’s woman?”
Liam pushed his tongue against his cheek, remaining silent.
He had assumed Silas was still hung up on Grace and was just playing around with Vivian. But now, it seemed…
That wasn’t the case at all.
At the door.
Silas leaned casually against the car, an unlit cigarette pinched between his long fingers. The night seemed to blend with his towering frame, loosely obscuring his handsome features.
When Sloan came out, he paused to appreciate the picturesque scene before walking over. “We agreed to come laugh at a joke, but who ended up being the joke?”
Silas shot him a glare.
Sloan felt the urge to laugh again and crossed his arms.
Thinking of Vivian’s stunning curves and radiant complexion, he let out an appreciative sigh. “But that Vivian… She’s definitely intriguing. If I wasn’t worried about ruining my own luck with women, I’d be tempted to fight you for her myself.”
“Do you have a death wish?”
Sloan was speechless.
Silas’s gaze darkened, his features finally radiating a terrifying sharpness. “Car keys.”
“What for?”
