you out.”

Just as Silas and Sloan stepped into the courtyard, a faint electronic hum echoed outside. The two turned back to look.

It was a delivery guy riding a hoverboard.

“Mr. Ziegler?”

“Yes.”

“A lady ordered this for you. Enjoy your meal.”

Liam’s eyes flickered as he reached out and took the bag.

When he turned around, the two men behind him were eyeing him suspiciously-one looked bewildered, while the other’s expression was unreadable.

Sloan glanced at the takeout bag and threw an arm around Liam’s neck. “Spill it. What lady? Are you hooking up with someone behind our backs?”

“What nonsense are you spouting?”

Liam offered a faint smile. “Just a friend.”

“What kind of friend orders you food?”

Sloan frowned, examining him closely. “You haven’t been reeled in by some gold digger, have you? Come on, Silas, say something.”

Silas’s deep gaze swept over Liam’s face. His expression remained utterly impassive. “There’s nothing to say.”

He pushed past the two of them and walked inside.

Sloan shot a bizarre look between the two of them. “Why do I feel like you guys are hiding something from me?”

Liam raised an eyebrow. “Let’s go in.”

They entered the living room.

Sloan had bought a bunch of heavy, spicy junk food and brought alcohol, planning to torture

Liam while he was sick.

Well, so much for that.

The man had a meal delivered by a mystery lady.

It looked light but included both meat and vegetables. It was quite a feast.

Liam opened the containers and arranged them on the table. The chicken noodle soup was still steaming. The curling mist brushed against his face, shrouding his dark eyes in a hazy

fog.

He casually rested his long fingers on the edge of the table and jerked his chin, gesturing for them to dig into their own food.

“You guys drink up. Make yourselves at home.”

Sloan rolled his eyes.

The dining table was a moderate size, and he sat on one side by himself.

Sloan and Silas sat across from him. The atmosphere inexplicably crackled with adversarial

tension.

What the hell was going on?

Sloan couldn’t be bothered with them. He opened the liquor and poured himself a glass.

Silas sat beside him with a lazy posture, dressed in a black dress shirt that exuded understated luxury.

Liam looked at him lazily. “I’m a patient. Since you’re here, you’ll have to serve yourselves. Don’t expect me to wait on you.”

“You seem to be enjoying your illness.”

“Pretty much.”

Liam smiled faintly. “Someone delivered me a meal, and you guys came to keep me company. It’s a real blessing in disguise.”

Silas’s gaze fell on the food in front of him: a soup, a side salad, and some steak and asparagus, paired with oatmeal. It was perfect comfort food for a patient.

Seeing Silas staring, Liam picked up his silverware, ready to eat.
