Chapter 314
After breakfast, Vivian grabbed a cab to the office.
Zoe hadn’t expected her to come in. She quickly rushed to her office to gather all the files and contract reports that needed signing and brought them over.
“Miss Fairchild, here is the program proposal. Also, your lunch with Director Garrison is scheduled for this afternoon.”
They wanted to make a massive splash with their debut, which meant they needed someone with a stellar reputation to lead the charge.
Although Gregory mainly directed movies, his documentary was the only Asian production to win a major international award, showcasing a unique and unparalleled artistic vision.
“I think he has a daughter. Go find out what the little girl likes and prepare a gift.”
“Right away.”
Vivian looked down at the documents in her hands.
Zoe was always meticulous; every proposal from the planning department had passed her strict review, so there shouldn’t be any issues.
After a quick skim, all the details checked out.
Vivian set the proposal aside and picked up her phone.
Right on cue, it started ringing.
She glanced at the caller ID, a smirk curling her lips, and answered.
“Hello.”
Liam remained silent for a moment before asking in a low voice, “Did Silas give you a hard time yesterday?”
Vivian lazily propped her legs up on the edge of her desk and sighed. “I didn’t know you played the innocent victim card, Liam. You sold me out, and now you’re pretending to care if I got in trouble. That’s pretty hypocritical, don’t you think?”
Liam was standing by his window, the woman’s cunning face seemingly reflected in the glass.
He chuckled. “Silas is brilliant. Do you really think he needed me to sell you out?”
“Exactly.”
Vivian feigned a tone of regret. “He’s too smart. I’m done playing games with you.”
After she said that, the other end went silent.

Vivian picked at her nails, suddenly realizing it had been ages since she had a manicure. Women viewed these superficial things the same way men viewed women.
Sometimes, you just needed a little novelty.
“Vivian.”
The man’s deep voice suddenly called her name. “Why do you have to be with Silas?”
“Why do you ask?” Vivian let out a light laugh. “He’s gorgeous, loaded, and powerful. Isn’t that enough?”
“It is, but I have all of that too.”
“Then take a number and get in line.”

“I usually don’t mind keeping my options open, but he’s very possessive, so my hands are tied. I might not have many redeeming qualities, but I do respect people’s boundaries. So, Liam, I’m afraid I have to pass.”
For whatever reason, Liam actually let out a laugh.
He spoke softly, “I can wait in line, but for how long?”
“Hard to say.”
“Will I ever get to the front?”
“Hard to say.”
“If everything’s ‘hard to say, how do I know you’re not just stringing me along and wasting my time?”
“Your time is only valuable to you; it’s worthless to me,” Vivian said, her voice light and airy, like a late-night radio host casually telling a story. “The fact that you’re interested in me means you’ve already given me permission to hurt and ignore you, hasn’t it?”
Just like how she treated Silas.
