Silas arched a brow. "How exactly do you want me to stand up for you? Harrison Fowler tried to assault you, and now he's in the ICU. Grace Gifford slapped you once, and you slapped her twice. Isn't that enough?"
Put that way, everyone had indeed gotten their rightful retribution.
Vivian thought about it for a moment.
"So, next time I get bullied, I can come to you? And you'll deal with them for me?"
Silas gave her the same answer as always. "You can try."
He turned and walked into the bathroom to shower.
Human beings were strange creatures. There were certain things one thought they would never get used to in a lifetime, but once they actually became a habit, they didn't seem so unbearable after all.
Like the act of sleeping with a woman in his arms. Silas couldn't even be bothered to argue with her about it anymore, since the end result was always the same.
Given that Vivian was still injured, nothing physical could happen anyway.
The night passed peacefully.
The next morning, it was just past eight when she finally dragged herself out of bed.
As she went downstairs, Martha Gable was standing by the kitchen door with a beaming smile. "Miss Fairchild, Mr. Sterling personally arranged your breakfast."
"Did he?"
Vivian walked over to take a look, only to find plain oatmeal and steamed veggies.
This man... seemed to have a bizarre obsession with this exact meal.
She looked up and asked, "Is there anything else?"
"No." Martha maintained her smile. "Mr. Sterling said... this is all you are allowed to eat this morning, and you have to finish it. Then, I am to take a picture of the empty plate to send to him for inspection."
Having said that, she suddenly raised a hand to shield her mouth, whispering conspiratorially, "Mr. Sterling also said that if you don't finish it, he'll deal with you himself."
Vivian: "..."
Would Silas really say something like that?
She pulled out her chair and sat down. Just as she took her first two bites, a text popped up on her phone.
Vivian glanced at it, her pupils shrinking slightly.
—
Vivian had Martha pack up a lunch box and personally drove to Sterling Enterprises.
Although her injuries weren't severe, it was a good excuse to use the opportunity to get closer to Silas.
