Women were bizarre creatures.
No matter how furiously angry they were in the moment, they weren't actually trying to win an argument. They just wanted the man they cared about to surrender and say something sweet.
"Alright."
"..."
Vivian froze. Before she could even process his response, the man's lips crashed down onto hers.
His familiar scent invaded her senses. Her heart stopped for a fraction of a second before hammering wildly against her ribs.
When the kiss broke, he lightly stroked the back of her head, his voice rough. "Are you no longer mad?"
Vivian licked her lips, her fox-like eyes sweeping over his face. She was trying to figure out if he was genuinely trying to coax her.
If he was, it was time to push her luck.
"Then... carry me inside."
"Fine."
Huh?
Silas stepped out of the car, walked around the hood, and opened her door. His powerful arms slid under her knees, effortlessly lifting her into the air. He kicked the door shut behind them.
Whether it was the moonlight or the shadows of the night, it fell perfectly over his striking features. Vivian couldn't tear her eyes away. She just stared at him, entirely captivated.
They entered the house.
He set her down on the sofa.
"Silas."
She had kicked her shoes off the moment they walked in. She pulled her legs up, resting her chin on her hand as she looked at him. "If I asked you to bathe me, would that be pushing my luck?"
She fully expected to be scolded again, but to her absolute shock, the man actually thought about it for a second before answering seriously, "No."
"Hmm?"
"You said you were angry. If you're still mad, then it's not pushing it."
In that instant, Vivian clearly saw the dark, swirling emotions brewing in his eyes. Before she could fully decode them, she looked away and mumbled, "Never mind. I'm clearly the one who loves you more. I can't bring myself to order you around like that."
Vivian pouted, completely offended. "I let her win! Otherwise, I would have beaten her to a pulp."
"Next time, don't hold back. If you break something, I'll deal with the fallout."
Her eyes instantly lit up. "Really?"
"Really."
Silas patted her head. "Now go take a shower, okay?"
Vivian slowly uncoiled her arms from his waist. She really wanted to push her luck just a little bit more. Her shimmering gaze traced every inch of his face before she bit her lip. "Don't think this is over. We still have a lot of scores to settle. You better think of a good way to make this up to me."
She hadn't gained any actual leverage out of this. It made her look way too easy to appease.
"I'll hold you while we sleep?"
"Not enough. You do that every night anyway."
Silas's brow twitched, seemingly agreeing with her logic. He stared at her for two solid seconds. "Then, how about we do it tonight?"
