The Stand-In Who Burned the Script novel Chapter 449

Silas walked to the edge of the bed and gently brushed a stray lock of hair away from her face. "Not enough?"

"..."

Initially, he had said he was doing this to comfort her.

"I think you're exactly the kind of man who gets what he wants and then acts like he doesn't know you. Look at you, all put together like a functioning human being. And me? I'm an absolute wreck."

It had only been one round. If Simon hadn't called and interrupted them, she couldn't even imagine how brutal the battlefield would have been.

Silas caressed her cheek. "Should I carry you to the shower?"

"I don't want to move right now. I'll go later."

"Then lie still and rest."

"No."

Vivian rolled over, turning her back to him. "My legs and back are so sore. Massage them for me."

With that, she kicked the blankets off.

Her skin was no longer that pristine, luminous tone. It was flushed in places, marked with faint bites in others.

A visual impact like that was enough to break any man.

Silas was no exception.

He grabbed the blanket and immediately pulled it back over her.

His voice was completely wrecked. "I'll massage you after you shower. Rest for now."

Vivian was fully prepared to throw a tantrum, but the man added a low, "Be good." That tone—it was as if he had actually lowered his pride to coax her.

"Fine." She lazily adjusted her pillow, resting her flushed cheek against it, and stared at him pitifully. "But are you just going to abandon me now and go hide somewhere quiet?"

"I have work to deal with. Didn't you hear the phone ring?"

"Jerk."

"..."

"Yeah, specifically your jerk." Silas never got angry over her ridiculous comments. He tucked the blanket securely around her. "Stay put. I'll come back to bathe you and hold you while you sleep."

"Wow, you're so sweet!"

"..."

Her attitude pulled a complete one-eighty. "I love you so much."

Silas stared down at those sparkling, expectant eyes. His gaze tightened slightly. He finally leaned down, pressed a kiss to her forehead, and turned to leave.

Vivian glanced toward the bathroom. Total silence. The man must have already gone downstairs. "Check me out of the hotel. Also, pick me up some birth control pills."

"...Understood."

She hung up and went to wash her face.

The woman in the mirror had blatant marks of passion scattered across her neck. Seeing them, every detail of last night flashed vividly through her mind.

Vivian touched her neck, a slow smile spreading across her lips.

This was definitely a massive step forward, right?

She ran her tongue over her teeth and pulled her hair forward to hide the evidence.

By the time she finished getting ready and went downstairs, Silas had already left for work. Vivian ate her breakfast while scrolling through her phone.

Ding.

A text message popped up.

[Meet me when you have time? I have a deal to discuss with you.]

Vivian stared at the relatively familiar number, her beautiful eyes narrowing.
