Honestly, Vivian never expected Jonah Granger to be this persistent. He was the heir to the Granger family, someone who always carried himself with an aloof superiority. Why was he acting like he was possessed after their breakup?
She had no intention of tangling with him.
But thinking back, the events of the past couldn't have been a mere coincidence.
Maybe he really did know something.
After replying to the text, Vivian forced down a few bites of breakfast and drove to the office. The moment she parked and stepped out of her car, a fire extinguisher came flying at her face, narrowly missing.
She glanced at the red cylinder on the ground, her gaze turning frosty.
She looked up. Dominic Fairchild stood there, radiating fury. He glared at her like she was a blood enemy come to collect a debt.
"I wondered who had the nerve. If it isn't Dominic," Vivian drawled, running her tongue over her teeth. "Dominic, to what do I owe the pleasure?"
"You still have the audacity to ask me that?" Dominic was practically shaking with rage, his face flushed scarlet as he pointed a trembling finger at her. "Amara is still in the hospital! You hurt her that badly and didn't even bother to visit! How did I raise such a monstrous wretch?!"
Seeing that he wasn't going to shut up anytime soon, Vivian leaned back casually against her car, crossing her ankles.
"How do you know I was the one who hurt her?"
"Amara told me herself! Do you think she's lying?"
"Then I guess I did."
"..."
Dominic was caught off guard by her blatant admission, and the shock instantly fueled an even greater inferno of rage. "You little monster! Is this how I raised you?! Do you realize that with what you did, Amara could send you to prison at any second?!"
"Then tell her to call the cops."
"You...!"
Vivian lazily inspected her fingernails, acting as if they were discussing the weather. "Have you forgotten how to dial 911?"
"You ungrateful wretch... I... I'll put you in your place today! I'll teach you some respect!"
Vivian was just razor-sharp.
She didn't bother hiding her claws; she slammed them right onto the table for everyone to see.
Dominic swallowed the bizarre knot of fear in his throat and gritted his teeth. "You... you think you're untouchable now, don't you?! You conned me out of the family's cash reserves, and you stole my shares! What more do you want?!"
If he wasn't currently drowning in the disastrous mess over in Southampton, he would have come to settle the score with this wretched daughter ages ago!
"So that's what this is really about."
A mocking smirk tugged at the corner of Vivian's lips. "And here I thought you actually loved your youngest daughter. In reality, you're just using her injuries as leverage to squeeze more out of me. Am I right... Dominic?"
She let his name roll off her tongue, slow and deliberate.
It was a surgical strike, exposing the despicable, greedy desires rotting at the bottom of Dominic's heart.
His eyes darted around in panic before he finally dropped the act entirely. "So what if I am?! Since you hurt Amara, transfer those shares to her as compensation! As for the cash you siphoned out... I'll let it slide. But from this day forward, you have absolutely nothing to do with the Fairchild family!"
