The Stand-In Who Burned the Script novel Chapter 495

Vivian lost count of how many times he took her. All she knew was that she had been enthusiastic at first, but by the end, she couldn't push him away no matter how hard she tried, her begging voice eventually cracking into a sob.

She slept straight through until noon, skipping work yet again.

That utter bastard, however, had gone to the office as if absolutely nothing had happened.

Perhaps Silas had left specific instructions before he left, because after not seeing her for hours, Mrs. Gable eventually peeked into the bedroom. "Miss Fairchild... are you awake?"

"Yeah."

Vivian's entire body ached, her voice weak and raspy.

"Your breakfast from this morning is completely cold. Let me know what you'd like, and I'll make something fresh for you."

She let out a heavy sigh. "I'll get up in a bit. Just whip up whatever you think is best, Mrs. Gable."

"Alright." Mrs. Gable turned and headed downstairs, unable to hide the delighted smile on her face. It seemed the relationship between Miss Fairchild and Mr. Sterling was advancing by leaps and bounds. The household was finally going to see some peace.

Vivian was still wearing the slip dress from the night before, minus her underwear. The moment she kicked the blankets away, the dark and light marks littering her skin were entirely visible, trailing all the way down her legs.

She stared blankly at the ceiling, cursing a certain man with every name in the book.

He looked like a perfect gentleman on the outside, but behind closed doors, he was an absolute beast!

He had been punishing her!

Vivian took two deep breaths, reaching out with a sore, trembling arm to grab her phone from the nightstand. She snapped a rapid-fire series of selfies from the perfect angle, opened iMessage, and fired them off to Silas.

"Look at this! How am I supposed to go out and see people looking like this? Silas Sterling, you jerk!"

At that exact moment, two sharp buzzes vibrated across the massive conference table.

The executive currently presenting froze mid-sentence, casting a hesitant, terrified glance toward the man sitting at the head of the table.

Was the boss going to check his phone?

Should the presentation... continue?

Normally, they wouldn't even have to second-guess this, but Mr. Sterling had been acting completely out of character lately. Anyone with eyes could see that his descent into lovesickness had made him highly unpredictable.

Did this guy suddenly unlock a new level of shamelessness?

Vivian let out a dramatic shriek. "No way! If you touch me tonight, I am packing my bags and running away!"

Silas's lips curled upward. Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed the entire boardroom leaning in, straining to eavesdrop. "Alright, get out of bed, freshen up, and eat something," he said smoothly.

He ended the call and placed the phone face down.

The executives were still frozen in a collective trance.

It was Mr. Jenkins, the one giving the presentation, who snapped back to reality first. Clutching his documents, he blurted out, "The boss is coaxing his girlfriend... ah, no, wait! I mean, I will continue, Mr. Sterling!"

His slip of the tongue jolted the rest of the room. Everyone immediately ducked their heads, pretending to be intensely fascinated by their spreadsheets.

Silas's gaze swept over the room, but he didn't offer a single word of reprimand.

Within hours, the events of the meeting had spread like wildfire throughout the entire company. Unsurprisingly, every exaggerated version of the story was more wildly entertaining than the last.

Simon Young secretly texted Vivian the scoop: "Miss Fairchild, the entire office is about to know the boss has a girlfriend, and in the current version of the rumor, he is hopelessly, madly in love with you!"
