"You're the best."
Grinning, she turned her back to him.
Her half-dried hair hung down her back, droplets of water sliding off the ends and leaving wet marks on her champagne silk nightgown.
Her tiny, impossibly narrow waist tugged perfectly at a specific nerve in the man's mind.
Silas's dark eyes betrayed nothing as he turned on the hairdryer.
He tested the heat against his own hand before aiming it at her hair.
His fingers combed through the strands, feather-light.
The action was undeniably intimate, as if... it was pulling directly at her heartbeat.
Finally finishing the task, Vivian whipped her head around, her eyes glowing with anticipation. "So, what's the plan for tonight? Are we doing it?"
"..."
Silas set the hairdryer down and pulled her hands off his neck.
"Even a machine needs a break. Don't be so thirsty."
"...Are you losing your touch?"
"Yeah, I'm losing my touch."
A truly powerful man never needed to prove himself with words.
Silas's expression remained perfectly normal. Looking at the dazed woman in front of him, he reached out and pinched her cheek. "I still have some work to handle. Go to sleep first."
He added two final words: "Be good."
Vivian was utterly defenseless against this tactic.
When he was gentle with her, she could be as docile as a kitten.
"Alright then." She leaned forward and pressed a soft kiss to the man's lips, then another. "Then you have to hold me when you come to bed later."
"Mm." Silas watched her slide under the covers before turning to leave, flicking the light switch off on his way out.
Not long after he settled into the study, Simon called.
