The Stand-In Who Burned the Script novel Chapter 70

Chapter 70

“Right away.” Zoe glanced at her, guessing she hadn’t had a chance to check her email yet. “By the way, Vivian, I’ve sent Mr. Sterling’s dossier to your inbox. You can take a look whenever you’re ready.”

Hearing this, Vivian immediately opened her laptop.

The file wasn’t massive, but it was highly informative.

“Heh…”

Vivian chuckled as she flipped to the second page. “He actually has an unforgettable first love.”

“Yes, it’s pretty well-known among the Northside elite. Word is, she was his high school classmate, and he basically catered to her every whim.”

“Oh? Then why didn’t they end up together?”

“I believe… it had something to do with Mr. Sterling’s eyes.”

Zoe sighed a little. “Rumor has it that after he got into a car accident, he proposed to Miss Gifford once, but she rejected him.”

So Silas had his heart shattered and gave up on women entirely?

Vivian laughed out loud. “How interesting.”

“In a way, we’re both in the same miserable boat. If we actually ended up married, it wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world.”

Zoe studied the woman’s exquisite face and asked, “Do you want me to try and dig up a photo of him?”

It was genuinely strange; she could unearth all this gossip, yet she couldn’t find a single photograph of Silas Sterling anywhere.

Was he truly that grotesque?

“Do I look like someone who judges based on appearances?”

Vivian scoffed lightly. “I don’t care what he looks like. Even if he’s hideous, his massive fortune makes up for it. With that much money, even a monster becomes handsome.”

She said it with such absolute arrogance that it actually sounded believable.

Zoe couldn’t help but laugh. “Okay.”

She opened the memo app on her phone. “We need to visit the commercial shoot set this

afternoon. Shall I come with you?”

Vivian closed her eyes and hummed in agreement.

“I’m going to nap for half an hour. Come wake me up when it’s time.”

Zoe went to the lounge to grab a blanket, draped it over her, and quietly slipped out of the

room.

By three o’clock in the afternoon, the sun was blazing high in the sky.

The shooting studio was quite far from the city center. Zoe drove, taking the beltway highway straight north.

Vivian sat in the backseat, reviewing the commercial’s concept art on her laptop.

Suddenly, the car slammed to a violent halt.

“What happened?”

“We got into a crash.”

Zoe turned to check on her before getting out of the car to assess the damage.

Their white BMW had collided with a black Porsche Cayenne, just barely scraping the side of

the vehicle.

Zoe noted that the other car had swerved over the lane marker. Scowling, she marched up to the window and knocked. “Get out.”

Simon’s entire face crumpled into a grimace of pure bad luck.

He glanced at the rearview mirror. Despite the jarring impact, his boss was still resting with his eyes closed-a clear sign that he was expected to handle the mess himself.
