Chapter 79
That evening, Vivian Fairchild waited until the time was just right before heading out.
Even though the man was supposedly blind, she still put some effort into her appearance out of basic courtesy.
Zoe Hunt dropped her off at the entrance of the restaurant. “Miss Fairchild, what time should I come pick you up?”
Vivian didn’t answer immediately. Her dark eyes stared straight ahead, reflecting the fading neon lights of the city in a gaze that was both deep and breathtakingly beautiful.
“Zoe.”
She called out her assistant’s name, then suddenly lowered her gaze.
Swallowing whatever she had originally planned to say, she murmured, “I’ll text we’re wrapping up. Just head back for now.”

With that, she pushed the car door open and stepped out.
The hem of her black dress swayed, tracing a graceful arc in the evening breeze.
It brushed against her ankles, rising and falling with every confident stride.
The restaurant wasn’t incredibly high-end, but it exuded a romantic ambiance. The entrance was beautifully landscaped with fresh flowers and lush greenery. As soon as she walked inside, the melodious notes of a live violin drifted into her ears.
Silas Sterling hadn’t arrived yet. Vivian followed the hostess to her private room.
“Miss, would you like us to start bringing out the food now, or wait?”
She wondered if Old Mr. Sterling had made the reservation, or if the man himself had arranged it.
Vivian offered an amused smile. “Let’s wait a bit. Just a glass of water for now, please.”
The moment the server left, the room fell into a sudden quiet.
The soundproofing wasn’t the best. Gradually, she could pick up faint murmurs from the neighboring rooms-people discussing business deals, someone sweet-talking her boyfriend on the phone.
Vivian sat quietly, actually finding the ambient noise somewhat entertaining.
Before she knew it, twenty minutes had slipped by.
She opened iMessage on her phone and tapped on the pitch-black profile picture, hesitating over whether she should call him to ask where he was.

Unbeknownst to her, a pair of eyes was watching her intensely through the slight crack in the door from a short distance away.
Before she could make the call, a knock sounded, and the server returned.
“Miss, our manager wanted to offer you a complimentary dessert. Please, enjoy.”
Vivian instinctively put her phone away. “Thank you.”
The server smiled and was just about to leave when Vivian stopped her. “Could you do me a favor and check the name under the reservation?”
If Silas booked it, he might just be running late.
But if Old Mr. Sterling booked it…
There was a high chance she was getting stood up tonight.
The server nodded and stepped out.
Vivian picked up her glass of water, and just as she took a sip, her gaze happened to sweep past the room diagonally across from hers.
A man sat ramrod straight, his silver suit radiating an undeniable sense of wealth and power. In just the two seconds she caught sight of him, it was painfully obvious how everyone else at his table was eagerly trying to suck up to him.
She froze, her breath catching in her throat.
Why… why was he here?
Shouldn’t he be by Amara’s side right now?
Vivian’s grip on her phone tightened as she forced herself to stay calm.
Jonah Granger had clearly spotted her. He might have even come here specifically for her. At
a moment like this, regardless of whatever flaws her blind date might have, Silas was the only lifeline she could count on.
Without another second of hesitation, she dialed Silas’s number.
