The Stand-In Who Burned the Script novel Chapter 78

Chapter 78

“Hey, where are you going?”

Seeing her turn to leave, Tristan Montgomery immediately reached out to block her path.

“Let me tell you something. I just went through a bad breakup and I’m in a terrible mood,” he said. “I wasn’t even planning on working today. Since you forced me to come here, you need to make it up to me.”

Vivian Fairchild tilted her head, studying him for a moment before letting out a soft laugh

“Make it up to you?” she repeated.

“Exactly!”

Tristan flashed what he clearly thought was a charming smile, leaning in closer. “How about we grab dinner after the shoot?”

Vivian didn’t flinch. Her striking eyes narrowed at him. “Mr. Montgomery, you have absolutely zero respect for your own contracts. Do you honestly think that makes you look impressive?”

Tristan’s expression darkened. “You…”

“Me what?”

Vivian had no intention of sparing his ego. “It seems you’ve completely lost your sense of shame,” she said coldly. “If word gets out that you need a babysitter just to fulfill a signed contract, do you really think anyone will ever hire you again?”

He had been coddled and worshipped by so many people that he had forgotten how to be a decent human being.

She had absolutely zero patience for men like him.

Before Tristan could even process the insult, Vivian continued. “The only reason I humored you and played your little games is because I refuse to let you waste the other actors’ time.”

Tristan’s face flushed with indignation. “Do you want to bet that I’ll just walk out right now?” he gritted out.

“Feel free to leave,” she replied evenly. “It just means the commercial will be down one person. Just make sure your agency has the penalty fee ready.”

Too exhausted to waste another breath on him, Vivian turned on her heel and walked away.

Behind her the superstar immediately threw a tantrum, sweeping everything off the nearest table in a fit of rage.

His manager instantly rushed over, frantically trying to soothe his bruised ego.

Chapter 78

Now that they were already here, there was no way they could actually back out of the shoot

If rumors of him acting like a diva leaked to the press, it would be a PR nightmare for everyone involved.

Back in her office, Vivian collapsed onto the sofa.

After staying awake almost the entire night, her head was pounding with a dull, exhausting

ache.

Zoe Hunt walked in holding a glass of milk and asked softly, “Do you want to go lie down for a bit?”

“Is the shoot over?”

“Not yet, but Tristan is actually cooperating now.”

Vivian offered a faint, cynical smile but remained silent.

Status and power were such convenient shields. Even when a person merely did the bare minimum of their job, everyone was expected to be eternally grateful for their basic

cooperation.

“You can head out for now. Let me know if any other issues come up.”

Zoe nodded. “I ordered you some roast chicken. It should be here soon.”

Just as she finished speaking, Vivian’s phone rang.

It was Old Mr. Sterling.

She immediately sat up straighter, glancing at Zoe near her desk before answering the call.

“Hello, Grandpa Sterling.”

“Vivian, my dear.”

Old Mr. Sterling chuckled, a sound that usually meant he was plotting something. “I wanted to see if you were free tonight. If you are, how about meeting up with Silas? I can make sure he clears his schedule.”

An esteemed elder was personally extending the invitation.
