The Stand-In Who Burned the Script novel Chapter 92

Chapter 92

The answer was self-evident.

A faint, mocking smile touched Silas’s lips. “Miss Fairchild, you’re truly more capable than I

imagined.”

“You flatter me.”

Vivian knew exactly what he meant. “I benefited from Old Mr. Sterling’s love for you.”

Silas scoffed softly, his tone devoid of emotion. “Get out.”

“Goodbye, Mr. Sterling.”

“Have your documents ready. I’ll have the driver pick you up at seven-thirty tomorrow morning.”

Their barely pleasant conversation ended there.

Vivian went upstairs to her apartment. She didn’t turn on the lights. Once her eyes adjusted to the darkness, she could make out the furniture. Walking over to the sofa, she collapsed onto it without even taking off her bag.

She hadn’t noticed it before, but now a wave of soreness hit her waist and legs.

That man… had zero sense of tenderness.

And absolutely no technique to speak of.

Was it his first time?

She licked her lips, her interest in Silas growing stronger.

The phone next to her buzzed. Scarlett Sinclair had sent a message.

[Did you succeed?]

[How was it? How was Silas?]

Vivian rolled her eyes and replied with an ellipsis.

Scarlett immediately called her. “Get to the point! What does a bunch of dots mean?”

Vivian rubbed her sore waist with one hand, her voice lazy.

“Yeah.”

“…?” Yeah?

What did ‘yeah’ mean?

“We slept together.”

Scarlett was so shocked she was speechless for a few seconds. When she finally recovered, she let out a string of curses.

“You are, without a doubt, the ballsiest woman I’ve ever met.”

Although she had helped set it up, she hadn’t really held out much hope.

That was Silas Sterling, not some random guy you could just drug and conquer!

But Vivian had actually pulled it off!

“Should I throw a party and hang a banner for you? Let me tell you, this is an absolute humiliation for Silas.”

Scarlett grew more excited as she spoke, unable to hold back a burst of laughter. “But don’t get too smug. Watch out for that Grace woman. She’s like a leech that won’t let go, and she happens to be his precious former flame.”

Men were all the same when it came down to it.

The harder someone was to get, the more they obsessed over them.

“It doesn’t matter.”

Vivian chuckled softly. “I love nothing more than taking a man who has someone else in his heart… and stamping my own mark on him.”

Besides, at Silas’s age, if he didn’t have someone he had loved in the past, people would think there was something wrong with him.

Who didn’t have a past?

It was still better than that greedy piece of trash, Jonah Granger.

Vivian got a good night’s sleep. At eight o’clock the next morning, the doorbell rang right on time.

Simon stood respectfully outside. Even though they were fairly well-acquainted by now, every time he saw her face, he couldn’t help but marvel at God’s craftsmanship.

“Miss Fairchild, I’m here to pick you up.”

Vivian smiled and nodded. “Just a moment.”

She quickly changed her clothes, went to the bathroom to touch up her eyebrows, and applied some lipstick.

With just those simple steps, she bloomed like a radiant flower.

Less than ten minutes later, Vivian stepped out. “Let’s go.”

“Ah… right!”

Chapter 92

The moment Simon turned around, he almost slapped himself. This was the boss’s wife; co matter how stunning she looked, he couldn’t just stare!

Although the boss didn’t seem interested in Miss Fairchild right now, who knew what the future held?

Calming his nerves, Simon opened the backdoor of the car.

“Miss Fairchild, your place was on the way, so I came here first. We’ll go pick up Mr. Sterling together.”

Vivian had no objections.

To be honest.

Getting married for the first time, she felt a little nervous.

Silas’s residence wasn’t too far away. It was an exclusive estate where every square foot was worth its weight in gold.

From the moment the man got into the car, Vivian, uncharacteristically quiet, simply offered a brief greeting.

Fortunately, Silas seemed busy. He wore a Bluetooth earpiece, listening to something

unknown.

The Registry Office wasn’t far.

Or maybe it was, but Vivian wasn’t paying attention to the distance.

Since it was a weekday, the lines at the windows weren’t long. Soon it was Vivian and Silas’s turn. Photos, forms-within minutes, the bright red marriage certificates were in their hands.

Vivian opened hers and looked at the photo inside. The man and woman sat shoulder to shoulder, looking intimate at first glance. But looking closer, their eyes were entirely vacant, devoid of any emotion.
