The Stand-In Who Burned the Script novel Chapter 99

Chapter 99

The sudden weight made the man grunt softly. Silas opened his eyes, a dark undercurrent surging in his black gaze for a brief second.

“It’s me!” Vivian feared that if she didn’t speak up, she would be dealt with like an intruder

She propped her hands on his chest, her voice soft.

“Silas, I came to wake you up.”

Silas didn’t move. His bottomless eyes seemed to absorb everything. At such close range, he could clearly smell the woman’s sweet scent-not overpowering like perfume, but unique.

A moment passed.

“What are you touching?” he asked hoarsely.

Vivian felt no embarrassment at being caught; she even rubbed his chest a couple more times. “It feels good.”

Silas’s eyelid twitched. “Get up!”

“You wouldn’t get up when I called you, and now you’re being fierce?”

Vivian muttered under her breath, pushing off him to sit up.

“What color do you want to wear today? Or should I just pick something out for you? Although, with a body like yours, you’d look good in anything.”

Silas sat up on the bed, propping himself up by his legs. His elegant hand rested lightly on his forehead, looking as if he were regretting something.

After a long pause, he asked, “Where is Simon?”

“Oh, downstairs.”

“Tell him to get his ass up here!”

Vivian obviously wasn’t going to call him. Since she had made the offer, she was going to follow through no matter what.

She crossed her arms, a spark of amusement dancing in her eyes. “Why so grumpy first thing in the morning? People might think Mr. Sterling is sexually frustrated.”

The man’s expression turned icy as he stared in her direction.

“Don’t worry, I have excellent taste.”

Vivian spoke with complete confidence. “You needed Simon before because you lived alone,

but now you have me. I’m your wife.”

The man still didn’t say a word.

Silence meant consent.

“You wash up first, I’ll go pick out your clothes. Be right back!”

The pitter-patter of her footsteps faded away. Silas felt he must be losing his mind to let this woman do whatever she pleased.

Whatever.

At least it bought him some peace and quiet.

He let out a heavy breath, swung his long legs out of bed, and headed to the bathroom.,

Ten minutes later.

Vivian walked in holding a few items: a black dress shirt as the base, and a charcoal-gray suit jacket. Instead of a tie, she had chosen a subtly patterned silk scarf.

Just as she set them down, the bathroom door opened. She waved at the man coming out, “Come here quickly.”

Silas paused, then walked over.

The moment the woman’s hands touched his shoulders, he suddenly grabbed her wrists.

“What are you doing?”

“Dressing you.”

Vivian stated matter-of-factly, “Isn’t this how Simon usually dresses you?”

Silas’s brow twitched. “Get out.”

“You…”

“Get the hell out!”

“Fine.”
