The Tower Reversed: Back to 18 (Venus) novel Chapter 53

Chapter 53 Her Baby Won’t Make It

The spirit looked washed-out gray, no fight left in it. It huddled pitifully in the corner, nothing scary about it anymore.

“You said her baby won’t make it, right?” Venus asked quietly.

The spirit nodded. “Yeah … it’s gonna die.”

That was exactly what Venus had already figured out.

Even without checking Neoma’s fate chart-which showed she’d never have kids anyway-just looking at Earl, that scumbag, she knew he’d never let Neoma keep the baby.

The spirit suddenly started crying, voice trembling. “Why … why doesn’t Mommy want me anymore? Did I do something bad?”

Venus stepped forward, crouched in front of it, and spoke softly, “No, it’s not your fault. It’s greed-people wanting more than they should. This world isn’t where you belong. I’ll help you pass on today, so you can leave in peace. Don’t be scared. In your next life, you’ll find a mother who truly loves you.”

The spirit sniffled and finally nodded.

Venus used up most of her psychokinesis and finally managed to send the spirit away.

It dissolved into starlight, the tiny sparks swirling together before streaming off into the night and disappearing.

Only then did Venus sink into the couch, exhausted but relieved.

“Ms. Oracle, you look dead tired,” June said as she came in holding a bowl. “I made chicken soup, real nourishing. Drink up.”

Venus looked touched. “Thanks. I’ve been running around all night. I’m starving.

“Hey, where’s Florian? Didn’t he come back?”

They’d gone to the ad agency together. When Venus got locked in the security room, he disappeared, and she hadn’t seen him since.

June shook her head. “Haven’t seen him.”

Venus waved it off. “Forget it. I’m wiped. Big day tomorrow anyway.”

Early the next morning, Venus packed her tools, hopped on her motorized tricycle, and headed

out to see Neoma.

Finished

The shoot yesterday had been cut short, and today they were finishing up at the same agency.

She’d been there before, so nobody stopped her this time. She walked straight in.

Without the spirit hanging over her, Neoma filmed with ease. Even the director complimented

her.

Right after wrapping a scene, Neoma spotted Venus across the room. Her smile froze, then vanished.

She rushed over, grabbed Venus by the arm, and pulled her into the dressing room.

“Ms. Oracle, I already paid you. What are you still doing here?”

“After-sales service,” Venus said simply.

She handed over a spray bottle filled with cloudy liquid.

Neoma frowned, puzzled. “What’s this supposed to be?”

“Purifying water,” Venus said. “It’s made from grains, white liquor, coarse salt, sandalwood, sage ash, willow branches, and rainwater.”

Neoma wrinkled her nose. “That’s … quite the recipe. What’s it for?”

“It cleans places and objects. Spray it on anything the spirit touched-it’ll get rid of the dark energy.”

If Venus hadn’t been paid so well, she wouldn’t have bothered with these extra details.

But Neoma looked unimpressed. “Anything that it touched? I’m throwing them away anyway. You didn’t have to come all the way here.”

Venus caught the smug tone but stayed cool. “Oh? Then make sure you throw out the apartment too. The place is covered in its handprints.”

Neoma’s face drained, then she laughed awkwardly and took the bottle.

“Ms. Oracle, you are so considerate. Thanks.”

Venus didn’t respond. She simply walked out of the dressing room.

She bumped into Lumi as soon as she stepped outside.

Lumi blinked in surprise, then smiled. “Venus! What are you doing here? You here to visit
