The moment they returned to the hospital wing, they saw the Byrnes’ car rushing off with Oliver inside.
Neil stood beside a black Mercedes, talking to Vienna. His face was pale with guilt.
“Vienna, I’m so sorry,” Neil said. “I promised you I’d make Venus apologize to Oliver. I didn’t expect her to lose control and attack him like a lunatic.
“She came from a mountain town, raised by a drunk,” he continued. “Her temper’s just like his. Don’t worry, Vienna. I’ll make sure she is punished harshly and give your family an explanation.”
Vienna’s beautiful face was tense with worry. “Neil, you don’t have to apologize to me for someone like her. I can tell the difference. What I’m worried about is Oliver His nose is broken, his eye was almost ruined, and with all the controversy online, he can’t stay in the hospital anymore.”
“Oliver’s still young,” she went on. “That car accident was just an accident, but Venus went after him with such hatred. That’s classic jealousy of the rich.”
Neil nodded. “I think so too.”
Just as they were talking, the person they were discussing appeared.
Neil’s face darkened instantly. “Venus! You still dare to come back?”
He stormed toward her, grabbing for her wrist, trying to drag her in front of Vienna to make her bow and apologize.
But Venus flicked her arm back.
Neil stumbled two steps and almost fell.
Vienna rushed to steady him and asked worriedly, “Neil are you okay?”
“I’m-fine,” Neil said through clenched teeth. His face fl shed red, not from pain, but from rage. He steadied himself and pointed at Venus. “You’re out of control! You have no respect for anyone!”
Venus looked calm and cold. “Oliver ran a red light and killed someone. Another victim’s still in the ICU. People are furious about what he said online. I hit him. So what? Didn’t he deserve it?”
Then she added, her tone sharp, “Mr. Neil, stop throwing away your sense of right and wrong just to please your precious lady friend.”
“You” Neil was so angry he couldn’t speak.
Vienna lifted her chin, her eyes sweeping over Venus from head to toe with open disdain.
She wasn’t even five foot three-tiny, barely weighing nybe 80 pounds.
And this fragile-looking girl was the one who beat Oliver so belly?
What a joke!

Vienna glared at her, her tone sharp. “So you’re the one who put Oliver in the hospital?”

Venus gave her a calm, dismissive glance. “Aren’t your family supposed to be a family of doctors? Can’t you even tell the difference between a minor injury and a serious one?
“The real victim is still in the ICU. Oliver’s little scratches don’t count as serious injuries.”
Vienna chest rising and falling rapidly-furious, but speechless.
Neil quickly stepped in to smooth things over. “Vienna, don’t mind her. She’s always this arrogant. Don’t let someone like her ruin your mood.”
That was the wrong thing to say. Venus turned her target to him and fired, “This is arrogance? Then what’s Oliver?
“Entitled? Power-drunk? A bully?
“Or maybe someone who treats human life like trash?”
Rowan nearly burst out laughing.
They were standing right outside the hospital entrance. A crowd had started to gather. Everyone’s attention was drawn to Venus’s words.
“Wait, that rich kid hit someone, and he dared to act so high and mighty?” someone muttered:
“If I were there, I’d have decked him too!”
