Summary for Chapter 181: The Transactional Marriage That Imploded

Read The Transactional Marriage That Imploded novel Bianca and Mathis Chapter 181 by Ansel Bick

Mathis's voice was bone-chillingly cold. "If it hadn't been for me that day, the girl would be dead. You are truly ruthless!"

"Mathis, you've misunderstood me. How could I ever hurt anyone? Years ago, when I accidentally went into your room and you forced yourself on me, resulting in Lamont, I didn't even tell you. I only brought it up when he was older."

Mathis's tone softened a fraction. "I'm sorry. I misunderstood you."

Cynthia asked, "Is that why you've been so cold to me lately?"

Mathis's dark eyes drifted to the magnolia tree outside the window; it was about to bloom.

Bianca had been missing for over a year now.

"No," he replied flatly, "just busy with work. Aeterna Dynamics is expanding rapidly, and I have more responsibilities on my plate. With the overseas business on top of that, don't overthink it."

Cynthia still felt a lingering sense of unease.

"If Rosalind hadn't told me today, were you planning on keeping this from me forever?"

Mathis slipped a hand into his pocket, projecting an aura of absolute control.

"Yes. To the outside world, you are the one I love. If a child suddenly popped up, how would I explain it? After all, I'm not officially divorced from her yet. I was keeping it quiet for your sake."

Cynthia found his reasoning perfectly sound.

"Thank you for looking out for me."

That works too, she thought. Let Bianca's bastard stay hidden in the shadows forever.

"Come visit Lamont and me when you have time."

"I will."

After hanging up, Mathis sat back down, his expression frosty, radiating the oppressive authority of a man in power.
