Summary for Chapter 221: The Transactional Marriage That Imploded

Read The Transactional Marriage That Imploded novel Bianca and Mathis Chapter 221 by Ansel Bick

Hector Goodwin's eyes suddenly dimmed. "I've seen too much ugliness in marriages. Men cheating and then framing their wives for infidelity, in-laws scheming to bury women in debt, husbands snatching custody just to retaliate, and mistresses stressing the original wives into hospital beds.

I probably won't ever get married in this lifetime. And since I won't, I'm not going to date around and ruin someone else's life."

Hector suddenly realized he had spoken out of turn; Bianca Baldwin's marriage was far worse than the examples he had just given.

Bianca, however, replied thoughtfully, "I must be the worst-case scenario out of all your files. It really does feel like being skinned alive. But thankfully, Mr. Goodwin, you've always been there to help me."

Hector said, "It's actually quite easy helping you. Even though your ex-husband is incredibly powerful, you are the most honest and cooperative client I've ever had.

"You have no idea. I once took a case where the husband was cheating and physically abusive. We presented all the evidence, and then my client actually asked the guy in open court if he still loved her? I nearly died of a heart attack right there. Ever since then, I carry emergency pills to court, just so I don't drop dead from sheer frustration."

Bianca found Hector to be quite humorous. Glancing at the time and seeing it was almost noon, she said, "Let me treat you to lunch. You can also meet that friend of mine. She was the one who originally told me how brilliant you are. She knew your entire resume by heart; she seems to know you very well."

"Is that so?" Hector was genuinely curious. "Then I definitely need to meet this friend of yours."

Bianca immediately called Xanthe Webber to invite her over. As soon as Xanthe heard she was meeting Hector, she eagerly rushed to change her outfit and touch up her makeup.

Xanthe had a very sweet, innocent face, which completely contrasted with her sharp, unfiltered mouth.

The moment Hector saw Xanthe, he froze. Even someone as oblivious as Bianca could tell these two had some kind of history.

"You two know each other?"
